Johnny
Daniel Wesley Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wanna smoke a cigarette, play a little bocce.
Sun is out shinning, out on the boulevard.
Skates out, tides up.
Lets go to the liquor store.
40 ounce, tequila, whiskey, tanqueray.
Smoke a little buddhape,
Everything is okay,
Listen to some good sounds,
Bass up, beers up, everybody get down.
We used to wake up and go down, for a walk.
We used to break up and take back, what you want.
Johnny 's in the backroom, looking for some matches,
Wanna smoke a cigarette, play a little bocce.
Sun is out shinning, out on the boulevard.
Skids out, tides up.
Lets go to the liquor store.
40 ounce, tequila, whiskey, tanqueray.
Smoke a little buddhape,
Everything is okay,
Ride onto the beach now,
Listen to some good sounds,
Bass up, beers up, everybody get down.
We used to wake up and go down, for a walk.
We used to break up and take back, what you want
So we used to wake up and go down, for a walk.
So we used to break up and take back, what you want.
And I'll sing, la la la...
The song, "Johnny," by Daniel Wesley, depicts a carefree and happy-go-lucky lifestyle that centers around spending time with friends, enjoying the sun, and indulging in vices. The song's main character, Johnny, is introduced as someone who is looking for matches to light up his cigarette and is also interested in playing a game of bocce ball. The lyrics convey a sense of relaxation and leisure, with the sun out and the singer seeking to enjoy the day with his buddies. They make a trip to the liquor store and indulge in a variety of drinks, including tequila, whiskey, and tanqueray, indicating a level of partying and merrymaking. The song encourages listeners to let go of their worries, ride out to the beach and listen to some good music while enjoying some beer and good vibes.
The repetitive nature of the lyrics reinforces the idea that the singer is living a life devoid of any major concerns or problems. The lines, "we used to wake up and go down, for a walk" and "we used to break up and take back, what you want" suggest a sense of nostalgia for a simpler time of life when the characters didn't have as many problems as they do now. Overall, the song is an ode to living in the moment, partying, and enjoying the company of friends, even if that means letting go of any worries to do so.
