Cuando tenía dieciocho años ganó el primer festival Nescafé Concert, hito que la convenció en seguir en la música. Hasta 1997 figuraba como versátil cantante de pubs, interpretando pop, bolero e incluso sound. Así fue "descubierta" por productores que la llevaron al canal La Red y en 1998 a TVN, donde se integró a la orquesta en el set de Tito Francia. Ahí apareció en programas de alta audiencia como "La noche del mundial", "Corazón partío" y "Pase lo que pase".
Entonces Daniela Aleuy compartió micrófonos con María Ela, logró gran aceptación del público y pronto salió del anonimato de un coro. En 1999 fichó con Warner como solista y editó su disco de baladas pop Así soy yo (2000), con hits de rotación radial como "Sol", "Alguien como tú" y "Si no estás", compuestos por Daniel Guerrero (ex integrante de La Sociedad). El autor y productor también escribió para ella "El juego del amor", canción que Aleuy presentó en la competencia internacional del Festival de Viña del Mar de 2001. Pero ese mismo año, desilusionada del medio, entró en un silencio que duró hasta 2006.
Cuando regresó a los escenarios y al disco, lo hizo desde la vereda independiente. Recluida en Viña del Mar, durante el paréntesis musical escribió el repertorio de su segundo álbum, Creer (2006), apoyada por los productores Mariano Pavez y Julio Osses. Su single "Algo mejor" figuró en la miniserie de Mega "Mitú" y "Tierra" apareció como tema central del programa de TVN "La ruta de Chile". La nueva tendencia para Aleuy entonces fue salir de los esquemas de la balada romántica e ingresar con mayor claridad en el pop-rock.
