Lost in Translation
Daniela Andrade Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cut it short, don′t wanna wait
You talk but I can't concentrate
Show me, baby, demonstrate
So we don′t get lost in translation
Lost in translation

Words can mean so many things
Escucha si te quiero aquí
Sabes, you know where I'm gonna be
Don't get lost in translation
Lost in translation

I′mma put it on you
You can put it on me
Lovers do more than speak
Spell it out if you need

Dame tudo de ti
Body language, we read
Hechos para decir
No quiero resistir, ahh

(No, no, no, no, no)
(Oh, oh, oh)

Lost in translation
(I′mma)
Lost in translation
(Love you)
Lost in translation
(Talking)
Lost in translation

Dame tudo de ti
Body language, we read

Hechos para decir
No quiero resistir, ahh

Overall Meaning

The song "Lost in Translation" by Daniela Andrade is a love song that talks about the difficulty of communication in a relationship, particularly the challenge of understanding each other when speaking different languages. The lyrics suggest that words can have various meanings, and it is vital to spell things out, especially when it comes to love. The song tries to convey the importance of body language and nonverbal communication in a relationship when words fail to express what one desires.

The lyrics’ use of Spanish and English as languages for communication emphasizes the message of the song. The Spanish phrases, “Escucha si te quiero aquí” which means “listen if I want you here” and “Dame todo de ti” which means “give me everything you have”, blend effortlessly with the English words, “cut it short, don’t wanna wait” and “spell it out if you need”. The multilingual approach of the song not only serves as a form of solidarity for individuals who understand different languages but also shows the effort it takes to communicate in a relationship.

In conclusion, the lyrics of Daniela Andrade's "Lost in Translation" remind us that communication is crucial in a relationship. Words can be ambiguous, and it is essential to clarify intent and desires to avoid misunderstandings. The song suggests that body language and nonverbal cues can sometimes be more effective tools in communication than words.

People always say Spanish is beautiful and it's cliche but it really is a beautiful language. I'm Mexican but I speak Spanish and English fluently and am learning arabic/learned french for 6 years. Spanish is the most beautiful imo; it's hard to explain but there's so many expressions that are very illustrative, creative and funny, while English is much more severe if that makes sense (and I say that as someone who loves English and is majoring in English literature in university).
