Let It Ride
Danielia Cotton Lyrics

Sixteen days and I'll be home again
To my own bed, to my old friends
The things I'm used to
But there's a charm
To all these nameless towns
The brand new streets
I'm in and out
The opposite of settle down
But this is what I am
It's just something
You have to understand
So I'm gonna let it ride
Gonna let it ride Not tryin' to fight it
So I'm gonna let it ride
Gonna let it ride
And it'll be allright
And I'll see you on the other side
I can't lie you're my best friend
And if things ain't right
when I walk out the door
It only hurts us in the end
It's a hard road be unfaithfull
And I just can't stand
The thought that I might loose my
Sense of home
I'm so sorry but I won't pretend
That I'll know for sure
That I'll love you in the end
So I'm gonna let it ride
Gonna let it ride
Not tryin' to fight it
So I'm gonna let it ride
Gonna let it ride
And it'll be allright
And I'll see you on the other side
Well there ain't no time
to wastin' I don't wanna fight
I rather make love to you
In two more days I'll be
On the road again
And it sure would be nice
If I was coming home to you
So I'm gonna let it ride
Gonna let it ride
Not tryin' to fight it
So I'm gonna let it ride
Gonna let it ride

And it'll be allright
And I'll see you on the other side

Overall Meaning

In "Let It Ride," Danielia Cotton seems to be expressing the mixed emotions that come with being a traveling musician. She acknowledges that she loves the thrill of being in new places and experiencing different things, but at the same time, she longs for the familiar comforts of home and worries about the toll that her lifestyle might take on her relationships. When she says "this is what I am" and "it's just something you have to understand," she seems to be saying that the nomadic lifestyle that comes with being a musician is just part of who she is, and not something that she can easily change. However, she also acknowledges the pain that her decisions might cause her loved ones, and seems to be trying to soothe her own fears and doubts by saying that she's "not trying to fight it" and that everything will be alright in the end.
