Pere-lachaise were once described as "Pink floyd melodrama fused with bluesy doors style explosions,.."the best (next big) thing ive seen happen in british music in 20 years" and with sonyEMI among their suiters big things were expected. In 2006 they hit a wall without really reaching their full potential, but although no album ever saw the light of day the PL style and songs were considered vastly superior to what followed after the implosion and was a monkey that Daniels in particular struggled to shake off his back. The remaining PL members(two guitarists down) regrouped and became Guru sales.
After 3 years of trauma and personal battles they finally done it! and the Guru Sales Album " you cant look back forever " (available on i-tunes) was lauded as "one of the most honest and real (all be it under-achieving) Lps in modern times." A lot of this was due to Daniels and the bands relaxed attitude to actually putting pen to paper on record contracts or even returning their calls in their efforts to actually make an album they were proud of and captured their last few years of personal hell. An attitude which led to a distinct lack of promotion, though their live performances left both their critics and their peers drooling. Eventually the powers that be lost patience with the band who were starting to forge a reputation as being slightly unruly. In january 2009 the week after xfm handed them band of the week status, the guru's split. Daniels has since cleansed his body and mind and uprooted to london, (ironic considering the efforts labels made unsuccesfully to get the bands to do this) and has been working with some of britains most loved indie names. His new Project Daniels & the Goldseal has seen comparisons with cohen through to buckley. And producer Nigel Clarke (dodgy) holds his songwriting abilities in the highest regard. And if debut offering "she liked eating nectarines" is anything to go by then this "quirky yet mournful" troubadours debut LP " A minor Love " has the makings of something really special.

Make like you're looking left and right at the stoplight as you try to keep the shadow in sight
And if you notice something strange
You know what they say,
For every person to fear there's a thousand
Who believe you're evil just the same
Evil people evil minds
Evil computers evil telephone line
But if you say you see evil babe you better look inside
Cos that's where evil lies
Like a prisoner of a sinister game, its gonna get worse before it changes
And like the mirrors in our bedrooms, baby, we're cracked up from our sinister faces
And if you notice something strange
You know what they say,
For every person to fear there's a thousand
Who believe you're evil just the same
Evil people evil minds
Evil creatures evil times
Evil computers evil telephone line
But if you say you see evil babe you better look inside
Cos that's where evil lies
The lyrics of Daniel's song "Evil" are evocative and challenging, dwelling on the nature of evil and casting it as something that is not only out there but also within us. In the first verse, the lyrics describe a person walking down a street at night, haunted by their shadow, evoking the feeling of paranoia and fear. The singer of the song advises the listener to keep their eyes peeled and watchful as a precautionary measure against the dark and sinister world that surrounds us all. The lyrics suggest that not only are there real and tangible dangers lurking in the shadows, but also that people will often project their own fears and anxieties onto others, seeing evil just the same.
The second verse continues the theme of the evil that exists within us all. The lyrics describe a prisoner in a sinister game, suggesting that our world is full of manipulations and power plays that often leave us feeling trapped and helpless. The simile of the cracked mirrors in our bedrooms works on different levels. It conveys the feeling of isolation and self-doubt, highlighting how we are often our worst critics. Additionally, it suggests that our efforts to protect our fragile egos often leave us with distorted views of ourselves, further reflective of the central theme of the song - that evil lies within us.
In summary, "Evil" is a thought-provoking song that challenges the listener's assumptions about the nature of evil. It explores the idea that evil is both a tangible external threat and also a manifestation of our own fears and anxieties.

I don't even know how to pray anymore, I'm so defeated. Tears can't stop flowing because you are preaching to me.

I was listening to this song when I was on my knees, crying for my momโs health. I was devastated because she has cancer and wasnโt doing well at all. God talked to me through this praise, and when I opened the Bible, it was Psalms 27. God confirmed that we should just wait on Him. We still need a miracle, but now we have faith and praise while we wait! My mom is a woman who follows our Lordโs words, and I ask you to pray for her health as well. Her name is Maria Juracy and she has a serious Lymphoma.
