Danny has released many free projects over the web, the most popular being 2011’s XXX. Brown released the album "Hawaiian Snow” with G-Unit’s Tony Yayo and several mixtapes (Detroit State of Mind 1-4, Browntown, It’s A Art (with producer Mainframe) and Hot Soup). Brown has found much success on the internet through the support of the music blogs and social media and the decision to release “The Hybrid” online as a free download.
Danny has worked with many artists in the Detroit hip-hop community such as the late J Dilla, Black Milk, Elzhi, Guilty Simpson, Trick Trick, and T3. Also known for championing up-and-coming artists, Danny has worked with lesser known acts such as Oakland, California's Main Attrakionz and is know for promoting these types of underground acts via his twitter.
Brown spent most of the summer of 2010 touring with G-Unit, and a few months later released “Hawaiian Snow” with Tony Yayo. Due to lack of promotion the sales were disappointing, however through the G-Unit connection Brown was able to experience firsthand the rigors of touring and the workings of the music industry as a whole. The experience served to jade Danny to the concepts of being on a major label and committing himself to appealing to an urban audience who he felt rejected him because of his look and style of dress which consisted of skinny jeans and vintage tees as 50 Cent refused to sign Danny Brown to G-Unit because he didn’t approve of his distaste for baggy denim. No longer concentrating on appealing to any particular audience, With this new found freedom, Danny delved into making more experimental music based on influences like UK Grime and Progressive Rock.
His experimental sound melded with traditional street narrative has brought about attention from progressive press such as Pitchfork.com, Fader Magazine, Spin Magazine and the like but no press more satisfying than making the cover of the Detroit Metro Times, his hometown’s alternative art’s and culture magazine.
Danny’s music later found a home on Fool’s Gold Records, the independent label helmed by internationally heralded DJ A-Trak and his partner Nick Catchdubs. The label and the artist having the same mindset, the two parties are now focused on releasing his upcoming projects, a free album that released Summer 2011 entitled “XXX” and his untitled Fool’s Gold records debut coming subsequently after.
His albums that followed also received positive feedback (Old, Atrocity Exhibition, U Know What I'm Sayin?).
He then sadly dunked on anyone else who had the misfortune to drop in the calendar year 2023 by dropping album of the decade Scaring the Hoes Vol. 1 with JPEGMAFIA on March 24th. It tragically received praise from disgraced music reviewer the BallDrop, but contrarily to this otherwise mark of disgrace from the worst person we all have the displeasure to be aware of, the album actually fye asl.
You know he had to go two for two on the DLC of Scaring the Hoes on the sacred national holiday of 7/11. No skips all Ws and is not mixed like shit for the "aesthetic" anymore, and JPEGMAFIA dodges the corny allegations by making Danny audible. Great news all around.
On October 17th, he began the rollout for his highly anticapted sixth studio album with the single Tantor (fire as fuck).

And still got my balls licked by pretty bitches
Sagging in Scottie Pippens, kid on a Gotti mission
But see his downfall, your best friend snitchin'
I'm in the kitchen with the Mac Spoon and lactose
Rat bitch rubbing on her titties off the roll
Nigga, calm down, listen for the door
I know my baby mama bet not call no more
Impossible for babies to take that many shits
Rapping 'bout bricks but I ain't never seen one
I think I seen like three hundred bowls once
Fucking with them addicts, holding automatics
Dog I ain't lying, even served a Dramatic
Used to bring the lettuce then I had to dead it
Ass tried to sing every time he wanted credit
And I'm tryna make re-up, fuck around, put a G up
And blow a blunt with my mans
See I'm just tryna make a re-up, fuck around, put a G up
And drink a fifth with my niggas
Christmas every year comes faster and faster
New Years come, claim a baby on your taxes
Dog I know connects, you middle-man taxing
Three gram dimes of weed, you was rocking Chloe glasses
Did it for the Jordans for what you feel important
In O2 my increased the dropout rate at Northern
See ya bitches skipping, get 'em weeded out
And take 'em to the back room, my nigga smut 'em out
Hood rat bitches puttin' blunts in they mouth
Smoke some weed, order Coney, time to fuck and out
Rock a fit for three days and go and cop a new one
Rode a bike to Linwood to give away my ones
Hopped up out the cab and when I step out
The first thing they say "I ain't know them came out"
But nigga I ain't tripping, I'm grinding on a few bucks
Really balling and I'm tryna step it up
And I'm tryna make re-up, fuck around, put a G up
And blow a blunt with my mans
See I'm just tryna make a re-up, fuck around, put a G up
And drink a fifth with my niggas
The lyrics of "Re-Up" by Danny Brown are intense and reflect the lifestyle of a drug dealer trying to make ends meet. The rapper speaks about his experiences with crackheads, bitches, and friends who snitch on him. He mentions sagging his pants, pretending to be on a Gotti mission, and carrying a gun. Brown also details his time in the kitchen with the Mac Spoon and lactose, cooking up drugs to sell. He becomes paranoid, telling his baby mama not to call anymore, and he calls her out on lying about buying Pampers when her baby couldn't have possibly used that many. The rapper also talks about his exposure to drug addicts and gun violence, and he uses his lyrics to challenge some of the materialistic values of his community.
"Re-Up" is a reflection of the harsh realities of street life, and, like many of Brown's songs, it's autobiographical. He grew up in a rough neighborhood, and he's never shied away from discussing his struggles with drugs and violence. The lyrics also reference some of the issues Black communities face, such as being a middleman in a drug deal and the need for fast cash. Brown's delivery is fast, and he uses slang and expletives to communicate the urgency of his situation. His storytelling is vivid, and the lyrics paint a gritty picture of a life that few people can relate to.
