La, la, la (etc)
Jack's OK, and he's back, OK
[CORPSE KID & CHORUS]
He's all right
[MAYOR & CHORUS]
Scream it out, wheee
[CHORUS]
Jack is back now, everyone sing
In our town of Halloween
[CORPSE KID]
What's this?
[MUMMY]
What's this?
[HARLEQUIN DEMON]
I haven't got a clue
[MR. HYDE]
What's this?
[CLOWN]
What it's completely new
[OFF-SCREEN VOICE]
What's this?
[WEREWOLF]
Must be a Christmas thing
[OFF-SCREEN VOICE]
What's this?
[MAYOR]
It's really very strange
[CHORUS]
This is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
What's this?
What's this?
[Repeat]
[JACK]
My dearest friend, if you don't mind
I'd like to join you by your side
Where we can gaze into the stars
[JACK & SALLY]
And sit together, now and forever
For it is plain as anyone can see
We're simply meant to be
Danny Elfman's song Finale/Reprise serves as the finale of the 1993 stop-motion animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas. The song begins with the chorus singing about Jack's return and how he is okay. The mayor and chorus shout with excitement, screaming it out to celebrate. The chorus then sings that Jack is back and everyone in their town of Halloween should sing along. The corpse kid, mummy, harlequin demon, Mr. Hyde, clown, werewolf, and an off-screen voice all question what this new thing is, which turns out to be Christmas. The chorus then sings about how strange it is, leading into the iconic song "This Is Halloween".
In the second portion of the song, Jack and Sally sing together about their love for one another, and how they were meant to be together forever while gazing at the stars. The melancholic song serves as the perfect closing to the film, where Jack realizes his mistake in trying to take over Christmas and recognizes that he belongs in the world of Halloween.
