Hot Cherie
Danny Spanos Lyrics

Been too long since the last rain
Still the stars sizzle hot in the sky,
And there undressed in the shadows
Stands my sweet Cherie that's hiding from July.

And all night you kept me up, up all night
Hoping that I could
Make you mine

You're getting me hot, Cherie
I want what you've got all over me.
Isn't my love, strong enough
I'm ready to rock you long and rough.
You're getting me hot, Cherie
I want what you've got all over me.
I'm going crazy

I can't wait for October
When the breeze, from the lake, she's blowing cold.
And maybe she'll need me for some shelter
When the campfire dies and the stange tales have been told

And all night, I've been working overtime
Hoping I could make you, mine.

You're getting me hot, Cherie
I want what you've got all over me.
Isn't my love, strong enough
I'm ready to rock you long and rough.
You're getting me hot, Cherie
I want what you've got all over me.
I'm going crazy.

And all night, I've been working overtime
Hoping that I could make you, mine.

You're getting me hot, Cherie
I want what you've got all over me.
Isn't my love, strong enough
I'm ready to rock you long and rough.
You're getting me hot, Cherie
And I want what you've got all over me.

Overall Meaning

"Hot Cherie" by Danny Spanos is a 1983 song that tells the story of a man's desire for a woman named Cherie. The opening lines suggest a prolonged drought, "Been too long since the last rain," and the intense heat of summer, "Still, the stars sizzle hot in the sky." The singer finally sees his infatuation in the shadows, "Stands my sweet Cherie, that's hiding from July." The chorus repeats the same line, "You're getting me hot, Cherie," expressing the singer's deep desire for the woman. He wants her all over him and promises to rock her long and rough with his love.

The song's second verse brings a hint of hope with the mention of October and the cold breeze from the lake. The singer wishes that Cherie may need him for some shelter when the campfire dies and the strange tales have been told. The chorus repeats, with the singer hoping to make Cherie his all night. The song ends with the singer's passionate plea for Cherie to make him hers, "You're getting me hot, Cherie, and I want what you've got all over me."

Overall, "Hot Cherie" is a classic 80s rock song, with its driving rhythm and guitar solos, emphasizing the sensuality of the lyrics. The repeated lines of the chorus suggest the singer's single-minded pursuit of his desire for the titular Cherie.

Saw him in '83 , London Victory Club , Tampa FL. Me and my band mates got there in the afternoon during sound check. Cool dude , he hung out with us like just a regular guy.

Danny was my friend ! Late 1979 , I was in a band playing all the Hollywood clubs, I was the front man/ singer from Venice, I was his friend! He called me a good friend!

Well your friend Danny made one of the best songs I've heard in my life

@@onmas909Ditto! Heard your good man’s song on an FM campus station with the sunroof open and wind blowing in Baton Rouge Louisiana in 1982. I think your bro and his band took this song exactly where it needed to be, artistically. It blew/blows me away. I found it again 30 years later when the internet came along. The music industry missed the boat on this monster opus. Crescendos (is that an adjective? it is now) so strong. It’s just a great song, and a great production. And your late buddy, lead vocalist Danny Spannos, kicked its ass.
