Wilde is known for breezy California power pop through his records released in the 1980s and 90's. Catchy hooks and power chords were his hallmark. In the 1980s he landed two minor rock radio hits with "Isn't It Enough" and "Time Runs Wild".
The single "Time Runs Wild" was featured on the soundtrack to the film Dream a Little Dream.
Wilde was the founding member of the now-legendary power-pop band The Quick. Wilde then went on to form Great Buildings in 1981 and released an album. After the band's demise Danny Wilde pursued a solo career. His first solo release in 1986, The Boyfriend, was very successful for Wilde, garnishing 2 pop singles "Isn't It Enough" & "Body To Body". Wilde then released Any Man's Hunger in 1988. It featured popular tracks such as "Time Runs Wild" and "Wouldn't be the First Time", and reached #176 on the U.S. album charts, his only solo album to chart in the United States. The album had moderate success. Wilde followed it with the release of the self-titled album Danny Wilde in 1989. The album contained some of Wilde's most popular songs including "Cut from Stone", "The Long Way Home", and "We Don't Have To Say Goodbye".
But it was in the 1990s that Wilde found major commercial success, forming The Rembrandts with Phil Sōlem. The duo's two biggest hits were "Just The Way It Is Baby" and "I'll Be There for You" the theme from Friends.
Who's gonna hold you now

Because the day is growing dark, and I've got no more left to give
And in your world, where it's impossible to share
You know I'll never let you down-You always knew that I'd be there
Who's gonna be there now?
Who's gonna hold you now?
WHO'S GONNA HOLD YOU NOW?
WHEN YOUR SKIES ARE FILLED WITH THUNDER
WHEN YOU'RE FEELIN' DOWN , I WONDER
WHO'S GONNA HOLD YOU NOW?
I'll be alright-I've always got by on my own
You never worried about my feelings-You only had time for your own
And you know I've tried, so many times to make you see
You've got to give yourself to someone, and only then will you be free
Who's gonna show you now?
Who's gonna hold you now?
(CHORUS)
When the hurt comes rushin' in, on the wings of a lonely wind
Maybe then you will remember my love
'Cause I need to know-If I'm in your heart
If I'm in your soul, and if you let go
Who's gonna hold me now?
So tell me
Who's gonna be there now?
Who's gonna hold you now?
Who's gonna hold you?
Who's gonna hold you now?
The lyrics to Danny Wilde's song "Who's gonna hold you now" seem to be about a past relationship that has ended, with the singer acknowledging that they no longer have anything left to give to the person they once loved. While the singer seems to have accepted the end of the relationship, they express concern for their former partner, wondering who will be there to comfort and support them when they are struggling. The line "when your skies are filled with thunder, who's gonna lift you up?" could refer to difficult times in the person's life where they may feel alone or in need of help.
The chorus repeats the phrase "who's gonna hold you now?" several times, emphasizing the singer's worry for their former partner. They also reflect on the fact that their former partner never seemed to prioritize their feelings, and that they tried many times to help them understand the importance of investing in a relationship. The singer seems to wonder if their former partner has truly let go of the relationship, or if they still hold feelings for them.
Overall, the song seems to be a bittersweet reflection on the end of a relationship, with the singer expressing concern for their former partner despite the pain they may have caused.
