Here's an update on December 11th 2021.

This shooting was considered justified of course the family did not agree. Which is they're right. Apparently the lawyer who made it to the front door first and it up walking away from the family. The lawyer did not see any situation in which the family would be entitled to a settlement. Apparently the lawyer wanted $20,000 to start.

The family started doing a social justice campaign all over social media. Apparently they were able to get video that was not released to anybody about what happened in the parking lot after the shooting. The district attorney's office immediately filed an injunction on the family to take down the video. The family has refused to do so. So now the district attorney's office and the police officer who was shot has filed a lawsuit against the family. There's no update on that the lawsuit started right around the time of the virus and civil lawsuits have been put to the side.

That's still has not stopped the family trying to persuade the public to protest this young man's death. The family is portraying him as a civil rights advocate that he was going to be the next Malcolm x and he believed Injustice for black people. The family was angered at the public for saying that all he had to do was listen to the police officers. There was two other black people in that car who did not get shots who listened to the orders of the police officer.

According to the family the police officer pulled his gun out first then their son who legally did not own the firearms since he was too young to purchase a pistol but legal matter like that did not stop this family. They went on to say once the officer pulled their gun on their son he had every legal right to defend himself against the police officer. It did not matter if their son fired first he was in fear of his life and under the law had the right to defend himself.

With all of that said in the family's video the part that got them in trouble you can hear the police officers and EMS talking to this young man. He admitted himself that he shot at the police officers first saying he was a black man and was in fear of his life.

Now this part I do agree should have been handled differently. They did let him lay there for a long time waiting for medical help. In the video you can hear him screaming and you can see all the blood. He was hit five times. He passed away about 30 minutes after the shooting.

I understand why the family is doing what they are. It's not easy to lose a loved one especially one this young whose whole life was ahead of him.

There's nothing the family is going to say that can justify him one for having the gun on him and two for shooting at police officers.

Just remember look at all the cases in which someone was killed by the police. And almost every case it's never someone who listened to the police officer orders. Normally it's someone who decides to fight the police run from the police and are foolish enough to pull a gun on the police. None of that is going to end well for anyone.

Like I said early on two other people in that car and the same color all made it home the next day.

I see these videos start (and typically end) the exact same way almost every time. It begins with someone resisting arrest, or disobeying basic commands, and the fallout ensues. It doesn't matter if he is a fleeing felon (Texas) or not. It doesn't matter whether he fires the weapon or not. He has the weapon in his hand while he is eluding Police. Watching the video and my opinion is if you run from the cops not smart, you shot at a cop not smart. Had the guy just let them cuff him he would be alive today and the cop wouldn't have been shot. It is usually the families of the person involved in these situations that would not accept any responsibility but instead blame the other party. It isn’t uncommon but I understand most of us don’t like to see that.

Being a lawyer isn’t easy depending on your field. It is easy to say you want to work honestly but it is hard to stay true to that belief when you are representing the bad party.

That is an odd hill to die on, I usually am against the cops for their unprofessional actions, but this one is very clear, that guy shot and hit the first officer, the other one shot back. Just let it rest, it is sad that the kid died, but there was no other way this would have ended.

They watched a video where their son shot and downed an officer and had to be killed to stop him. And all they have to say is "Its inconclusive, why'd they draw guns?"

In all honesty, the lawyer has a point. These body cams don't produce a really viewable action video and you can't Mahe out any details.
But by the rest of what he said, he knows they have no case.
It really doesn't matter who fired first. Once the suspect pulls the gun, the cop doesn't have to wait to be shot at.

This is the second video I have seen recently of an Officer being gunned down from a situation where they were being civil and calm.

It makes me realise why they turn up so hot with their guns drawn and screaming commands in some other videos where there was no actual threat, and the situation could of been resolved with simple dialogue.

In a better world neither of these things would happen. Thoughts and blessings to all the innocents (and their families and loved ones), both sides of these situations.

It’s clear when you combined both videos and the audio that when the shooting first begins neither of the officers had their guns drawn. The first officer falls and THEN the second officer pulls his gun. It doesn’t look like the first officer ever pulled his gun.
