Dark The Suns was founded as Mikko's solo project in 2005 in Valkeakoski. The first demo, The Sleeping Beauty, was recorded later that year and it was demo of the month in Inferno-Magazine #34. In the beginning of 2006 Dark The Suns settled to Jyväskylä and Mikko's one-man project grew to a full band when Juha, Markus and Inka joined Dark The Suns.
In August 2006 Dark The Suns entered studio for their second demo and soon in the end of October 2006, Dark The Suns was signed to Firebox Records for two albums. Their debut album, In Darkness Comes Beauty, was released in autumn 2007. Followed by All Ends in Silence released in 2009 and Sleepwalking in a Nightmare a year later.
An official announcement was made in early 2013 saying that the band is no longer active.
After almost 10 years of hiatus the band released a teaser for the upcoming single "Suru Raivosi Sydämeni Pimeydessä" which is set to be released on May 21st 2020 by Inverse Records. This is the first single from the upcoming fourth album which is set to be released later in 2020.

The song Alone by Dark the Suns deals with the idea of disillusionment and despair that arises from unrealized expectations. The lyrics convey the theme of hopelessness, loss and the bleakness of life when the promises and hopes that one has cherished all along are betrayed.
The first stanza speaks about how the singer was told false promises about delightful nights and stars shining bright in the dark sky, but the reality is that everything is empty and lifeless. The second stanza further emphasizes the false hopes that the singer once believed in. He feels that the ways of the world are no longer relevant and they cannot guide him any further. The chorus talks about the inevitable end of life and how one cannot see the singer for one last time. When the light fades away and darkness creeps in, the lyrics reflect upon how the dreams and thoughts of the singer will die away.
The final stanza is particularly poignant, where the singer speaks about the shattered life he is leading, with no light or hope to cling onto. They leave this ground, uncertain of what lies ahead, but at peace in the silence of this final journey.

Финская готическая сцена с некоторых пор (когда отдельные звезды пробили международный небосклон) растет заметными темпами, давая все новые и новые хищные побеги, которые стремительно заполняют профильные лакуны как у себя в стране, так и шире — далеко за ее пределами.
Команда Dark The Suns воплощает Dark Gothic Metal финского покроя, что будет дополнительно жирно подчеркнуто последним кавером на этом диске. Но все по порядку. Как я уже отмечал в других рецензиях, Mikko — как гитарист и автор музыкальной концепции Dark The Suns держится такого музыкального правила - гитарно-клавишный мелодический союз заправляется мид-темповой прилично акцентированной ритм-секцией, врубая сюда же харш-вокал - не очень жесткий, но шершавый и своенравный, наррации. Кстати и к месту - Mikko же и исполняет вокалы на этом диске.
Понятно, что схема не нова, а кто тут претендует на новации? Музыканты Dark The Suns валят местами динамичный, местами небыстрый, всецело захватывающий Gothic metal, пользующийся массовой популярностью и свою нишу занимают заслуженно.
Немалую роль на диске играет Juha — исполняя на клавишах. Думается, это профессионально подготовленный музыкант, который широко черпает из классического наследия, создавая особое готическое настроение. Не раз и не два мне казалось, что клавишник способен на более изощренные, скажем так, партии, другое дело — какие задачи перед ним были поставлены. Тем более - жанр диктует правила. Не знаю уж какими методами, но он добился, что его лично уникальные соло-посты все-таки мелькают среди и позади общего музыкального потока. Его пресеты на клавишах — фортепиано и более традиционные для жанра синтезаторные настройки, в той или иной мере нацелены на меланхолическое настроение, и когда солируют, и когда свиваются с гитарным звучанием, и даже когда вместе со струнными организуют массивные динамические прогоны.
Лейбл GS Production на этом диджипаке соорудил более чем солидную дописку — целых 4 трэка, среди которых два кавера - на In Flames и HIM.
Одна из своих композиций неожиданно оказалась с обаятельным женским сопрано, элегантно вправленным в вышесреднего скоростное и солидное обрамление дарк готик металла. Причем тут же фигурирует мужской харшевый, и в кайф два вокала работают дуэтом, - душевно получается, но хорошее качество звука рекомендуется, дабы разобрать хитросплетения голосов. Драгоценность на этом диске. Во второй композиции женский вокал проходит фоном.
Из каверов - HIM-овский более интересный, он иной по ритмике, более глубокий, и даже, может быть, лучше прописанный. Фэнам HIM (и не только) слушать обязательно.

Found this song among many other melodic death/black metal (not here to discuss what type of metal it is) and could not stop to listen to it. Piano, whisper, guitar and growl are just perfect. It's a masterpiece. It is a fucking masterpiece. That's all i have to say. Enjoy 😉
