Choke On Bones
Darlia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Choose which doomsday suits you most, while I set the scene.
The ribbons that remind where a memory goes, to rub it in your face that your missing out. I'm starting to see
So what's it gunna be? Ooh you got me, yeah you got me.
Tell me what you see, ooh when you read my palm as I wave as I walk away.
I need to get out into the Amazon. To call it mankind would be arrogant and irony.
In Darlia's song "Choke On Bones," the opening lines set the stage for a sense of contrast and choice. The first line describes the skyline being high while the backdrop is low, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for the highs and lows of life. The second line poses a question about which doomsday scenario suits the listener best, while placing the singer in the role of a scene-setter.
The next verse talks about memories and how they can act as a ribbon that reminds us of what we're missing. This line could suggest feelings of nostalgia or regret. The following lines are almost accusatory, suggesting that someone is missing out on something, and the singer is starting to see that.
The chorus repeats the question of what's going to happen, suggesting that there is a choice to be made. The singer seems to be in a state of uncertainty or vulnerability, asking the listener to read their palm and tell them what they see.
The final verse gives a hint of the bigger picture, comparing humans to animals living without a true habitat. The Amazon is mentioned as a specific location where the singer wants to go, and the last line suggests an awareness of the irony of calling ourselves "mankind."

As a huge Nirvana fan I have to say this might be influenced by Nirvana but it's something fresh and I loove it

It's just a regurgitation. A regurgitation of a few years ago, nothing fresh. They're like post-grunge dustmen, or like the image-conscious throwaways of yesterday. I don't where they've come from, where they're going, or where they stand. But I'll happily be proven wrong, if things take a turn for the better and they break the mould.
