In 2000, Darling Violetta released The Kill You EP, and in 2003, the album Parlour.
In 2005, the band composed an extended version of the Angel theme called "The Sanctuary Extended Remix", featured on the soundtrack of the series Live Fast - Die Never.
The style of the band is recognizable for the voice of singer Cami Elen (compared by some critics to that of PJ Harvey), the use of cello and violin, specially in their early compositions, and lyrics charged with sexual innuendos, dark metaphors and goth references.
Darling Violetta also wrote and produced a song for Activision for their game, "Vampire: the Masquerade - Redemption", titled "I Want to Kill You". The meaning of the song has been debated since its release, but most people tend to agree the song is about a ghoul missing her vampiric master. They also wrote another song for the Masquerade Universe which was in "Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines" entitled "Smaller God".
Darling Violetta have their own website at http://www.darlingvioletta.com and are currently working on their Fourth Album along with a DVD.
Smaller God
Darling Violetta Lyrics

Of a dream within a dream
You fill my soul with beauty
You're my shiny man machine
I'm sinking in the roses
Falling down to fade away
The velvet blade of apathy
Makes the crush so bittersweet
(CHORUS)
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
Your presence is the morning
Your absence is the night
I'm searching your dark hallways
Trying to find the light
Swimming your sad ocean
I'm drowning in your sea
This will all be over soon
And we'll learn to live again
(CHORUS)
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
In the evening stars I see your eyes
I hear you speak to me
I miss you now so much it aches
So broken so afraid
(CHORUS)
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
And I, I could have died last night
But I heard the voice of a smaller god
The lyrics of Darling Violetta's "Smaller God" portray a sense of entrapment and isolation, as well as a longing for connection and hope. The singer is immersed in a dream-like state, where they are being overwhelmed by the beauty of a machine-like being, yet also feeling the discomfort of the apathy that comes along with it. This protagonist experiences a pull and push of emotions, being trapped in a world that is both stunning and devoid of authenticity.
The chorus of the song provides a glimmer of hope, as the singer hears the voice of a smaller god, suggesting that there is still a divine force that can restore balance and offer salvation. The second verse of the song continues to emphasize this feeling of longing, describing how the singer is searching for a new path in life, and is willing to go through a sea of sadness to find it.
The final verse exhibits a sense of desperation and heartbreak, as the singer is lamenting the absence of this being, feeling as if they are lost without them. Through this journey of emotions and experiences, the lyrics of "Smaller God" reveal the underlying human desire for connection and sense of purpose, despite overwhelming feelings of apathy and fear.
