The band has released three EPs and their debut album, Datarock Datarock, was released in 2005 in 10 countries on the band's own label, YAP (Young Aspiring Professionals), receiving favourable reviews, especially in the UK. They made an appearance in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 with the single "Computer Camp Love" in 2005, placing at #12. This song was #88 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.
Their song "Fa-Fa-Fa" was featured in a new Coca Cola advert, and is also featured in NHL 08, FIFA 08 and NBA Live 08 as part of EA Trax. It also appears in The Sims 2: Free Time, and The Sims' video team was asked to create a custom music video for "Fa-Fa-Fa". Another one of their songs, "New Song", is featured in Madden NFL 08. Finally, a remix of "I Used To Dance With My Daddy" is featured in Need For Speed: ProStreet and "True Stories" is featured in FIFA 09 and The Sims 3.
Datarock was also featured in an Apple advertisement for the fourth generation iPod Nano. The ad showed the song Fa-Fa-Fa playing on an Orange iPod Nano. The coverart for Datarock Datarock was also shown.
Fredrik Saroea also has solo aspirations and has recorded several individual tracks, including a duet with fellow Norwegian pop-star Annie for the song I Will Always Remember You, which has been included on later presses of the band's debut LP.
Not Me

I stand here crying out your name
I stand here crying, what’s the difference?
I stand here crying in the rain
I stand here crying in the rain
I stand here crying, what’s the difference?
But not me
But not me
But not me
I stand here crying out your name
I stand here crying out your name
I stand here crying, what’s the difference?
I stand here crying in the rain
I stand here crying in the rain
I stand here crying, what’s the difference?
But not me
But not me
But not me
But not me
When you held your arms around me
I felt free and said can this be
And then you left me feeling better
But not me
But not me
But not me
But not me
But not me
But not me
But not me
But not me
The lyrics to Datarock's song Not Me seem to portray a sense of desperation and heartbreak. The lines "I stand here crying out your name" and "I stand here crying in the rain" suggest that the singer is overcome with emotion and feels a deep sense of loss. However, the repeated refrain of "But not me" suggests that the singer is trying to distance themselves from their own emotions, perhaps in an attempt to move on and detach from the pain they are feeling.
The verse "When you held your arms around me, I felt free and said can this be" suggests that the singer had a moment of happiness and freedom with the person they are addressing. However, the line "And then you left me feeling better" seems to suggest that this happiness was short-lived and the singer was ultimately abandoned or hurt by this person.
Overall, the lyrics of Not Me seem to convey a mix of emotional turmoil and an attempt to distance oneself from those emotions. The repeated phrase "But not me" could be seen as the singer trying to convince themselves that they are not defined by their pain and that they will move on.

I stand here crying out your name
I am calling your name and shedding tears
I stand here crying in the rain
I am standing in the rain and crying
But not me
But I am not like that
When you held your arms around me
When you embraced me
I felt free and said can this be
I felt liberated and wondered if this is real
And then you left me feeling better
And then you departed leaving me feeling improved
