How High the Moon
by Dave Brubeck

Somewhere there's music
How faint the tune
Somewhere there's heaven
How high the moon
There is no moon above
When love is far away too
Till it comes true
That you love me as I love you

Somewhere there's music
How near, how far
Somewhere there's heaven
It's where you are
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

Somewhere there's music
How faint the tune
Somewhere there's heaven
How high the moon
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

I am sure Johann Sebastian Bach would be totally pleased with the magnificent counter point in the out choruses!!!!!!!

Saxman1219 Jones

I love that when he goes up into the altissimo register, that he actually plays melodies; he doesn't just squeal. Paul is so cool, one time, he made ice put on a sweater! RIP

Best solo ever by Paul! Especially love how they suddenly break into a Latin feel at 2:58

Michael Gregory

I know every note of this - I bought it in 1955 - it cost a weeks wages - in the UK

@Lou I got Oberlin circa 1957 but could only afford the EP. Still got it. Bit later I played Perdido to someone several times. Decades later he did Desert Island Discs and there it was!

I know every note of this, too !!! I always sang along with Paul's solo. Awesome.

Wow what a reception! Pre-rock n roll when jazz was cool with the kids. Love it

Spectacular Desmond solo. Great to hear the audience so excited about the music!

Beautifully quiet restrained treatment here...... until Paul Desmond's [alto sax] comes in, and thence comparative with Charlie Parker's version of HOW HIGH THE MOON with the Milt Jackson Quartet....
