Thie Song Is You
Dave Brubeck Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I hear music when I look at you,
A beautiful theme of every
Dream I ever knew.
Down deep in my heart I hear it play.
I feel it start, then melt away.

I hear music when I touch your hand,
A beautiful melody
From some enchanted land.
Down deep in my heart, I hear it say,
Is this the day?

I alone have heard this lovely strain,
I alone have heard this glad refrain:
Must it be forever inside of me,
Why can't I let it go,
Why can't I let you know,
Why can't I let you know the song
My heart would sing?

That beautiful rhapsody
Of love and youth and spring,
The music is sweet,

The words are true
The song is you.

One of the first LPs i bought and still have it. My next door neighbor introduced me to Brubeck and many other "modern jazz" types. Heard Brubeck and Desmond live at least three times

After so many years I get to listen to this song again, I thought I wouldn't be able to find it again, since I only remembered David Brubeck and the melody (where I live jazz wasn't popular, and his name was not known)
thank you for uploading this song 😃

Where do you live that jazz isn't popular? Who doesn't love jazz?

I love how Desmond trades off riffs with himself
