His next big move was when he was signed to Teddy Riley's R&B group BLACKstreet in 1994. He worked with the group on their first album and then left the group to pursue his own solo career. He was signed to DreamWorks Records and began working on an album.
In 1999, Hollister released his first albumm, Ghetto Hymns. The album was successful, going gold, and creating one hit single, "My Favorite Girl." "My Favorite Girl" reached #10 on the R&B charts.
Hollister's follow-up album, Chicago '85... The Movie was released in 2000. The album was an autobiographical work and went gold. "One Woman Man" the album's biggest single, reached #8 on the R&B charts.
For his third effort, Hollister moved to Motown Records. He hoped the new label would instill new energy into his music. The album, Things In the Game Done Changed was released in 2002 and faired poorly on the charts and radio.
As a result of the album's shortcomings, Hollister returned to DreamWorks where he released Real Talk in 2003. Following the album's release, Hollister moved to Gospo Centric.
Hollister is reportedly wrapping up his fifth album in the industry, The Book of David: Vol. 1 The Transition. The album will be coming out on September 26, 2006 from Gospo Centric.

I'm Not Complete
Dave Hollister Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Mmm hmm, ooh yeah
Ooh yeah, lady lady lady
Ohh ooh, can I talk to you?
Talk to you, listen to me
Whoa oh, oh oh oh oh, oh
I just gotta, gotta let you know
Can I tell you somethin'?
Mmm, ohh
One time was enough for me
To realize what you mean to me
You stood by my side
When I was down
Didn't have a thing
You still came to see about me
I had many dreams
You encouraged me
You told me to keep pressin' on
Through it all
Without you, I wouldn't be
That's why I see, yeah
[Chorus]
Where would I go?
What would I do?
Do without you?
I'm not complete
Unless you're with me
[Chorus]
Can't breathe without you
Don't want to be without you
I don't want to live without you
Now we're driving
Facy cars
Wearin' diamond things
People know who we are
I know people change
But you stayed the same
Still the same girl
From around the way
Still wash the clothes
(And you know we got it made)
Still cookin' food
(We can go to any restaurant you wanna)
Would I die for you? (yeah)
Would I cry for you? (yeah)
Live my life for you? (yeah)
That's why I sing, hey yeah
[Chorus]
[Chorus]
(There is no greater love for me)
Listen to me
You took me step by step and you nurtured me (oh)
You picked me up (oh)
And turned me around
Won't you be my love?
No other one could be
(Babygirl, what you mean to me)
You're my everything
(My everything)
My hopes and dreams
(I can love you forever, eternally)
(Somebody tell me)
[Chorus] w/ ad-libs to fade
The lyrics to Dave Hollister's song "I'm Not Complete" express the artist's deep appreciation for his partner and how she has been there for him through difficult times. He recognizes that he would not have been able to achieve his dreams or be where he is without her unwavering support. He emphasizes that he cannot imagine his life without her and declares his love, asking her to be his forever.
The chorus repeats the sentiment that he would not be complete without her, highlighting his dependence on her love and presence in his life. As the song progresses, he acknowledges the material wealth they have acquired in their life together but underscores that it is not what is most important to him. He values the real connection and love he shares with his partner even more. The lyrics are a tribute to a committed and loving relationship, emphasizing that love and connection with another human being is what truly makes life complete.
