Into the Sun
Dave Kerzner Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You took on the risk of the flight
Knowing certain danger awaits
Ignoring the flaws of your plight
It's not right
All systems were go for the mission
All signals inviting the quest
Fueled by the fire in your chest
It's not right
Into the sun
Far away from everyone
You flew too close for what it's worth
And you crashed down to Earth
The shimmer of blistering starlight
Beaming its glamorous eyes
You fell for its warm seductive power
Only to be eclipsed by its pending demise
So unwise
Into the sun
Far away from everyone
You flew too close for what it's worth
And you crashed down to Earth
Into the sun
So far away from everyone
You knew full well that you'd get burnt
Brace yourself for impact
Heat shield giving way
Quickly losing contact
Transmission ends today
Breaking up in pieces
Hearts disintegrate
The lyrics to Dave Kerzner's song Into the Sun can be interpreted as a cautionary tale about the dangers of chasing after one's desires with reckless abandon. The song describes someone who has put their desires in motion and taken on the risk of the flight, despite knowing that certain danger awaits. The person is fueled by the passion within them and the fire in their chest, ignoring the flaws in their plan. However, their journey is not without consequences, as they ultimately crash back down to Earth.
The imagery of "into the sun" refers to the idea that the person is flying too close to the things they desire, risking getting burned or destroyed. The shimmer of blistering starlight represents the seductive power of those desires, which the person falls for but is ultimately eclipsed by as they crash back down to reality. The final verse describes the aftermath of the crash, with the person's heart disintegrating as they break up into pieces.
Overall, the song's message warns against the dangers of being consumed by desires, and the consequences that can come from chasing them recklessly.
