Movin' To The Country
Dave Loggins Lyrics

A log cabin by a mountain stream
Where I can think and write and sleep at night
And breathe air that's fresh and clean
And I can raise a family
Like they did in my mother's time
While there's still a little time
Workin' jobs both day and night
But every Saturday, I'd try to get away
I'd drive through the quiet of the countryside
Where barns and old farmhouses
Have long been a love of mine
So while there's still a little time
I'm movin' to the country
I'm gonna have reunions
And family gatherings
And lots of little children that love one another
And I'm lookin' for peace on earth
And you can take it for what it's worth
'Cause I'm packin' it up and movin' to the country
Yes, I'm gonna live out where the world stands still
Through the forests and 'cross the field
Where people refuse to lock their doors
(If we could live like that once more)
Now wouldn't the world be a better place
If we could save a little space before she fades away?
And we could move to the country
And be one big reunion
And have family gatherings
And lots of little children that love one another
And I wish I had peace on this earth
And you can take it for what it's worth
'Cause I'm packin' it up and movin' to the country
Yes, I'm packin' it up and movin' to the country
The song "Movin' to the Country" by Dave Loggins tells the story of the singer's desire to leave the city and move to the countryside. He expresses a desire for a simple life, surrounded by nature and the tranquility that comes with it. The singer wants to build a log cabin by a mountain stream where he can think, write, and sleep at night. He intends to raise a family, just like in his mother's time, where children learn to appreciate nature and enjoy a life without technology.
The song acknowledges the fast pace of urban life, with the singer having worked jobs both day and night in the city. He uses every opportunity to escape to the countryside on Saturdays, where he finds comfort in the old farmhouses and barns. The singer believes that living life in the countryside is beneficial for humanity, as people refuse to lock their doors, and the world can stand still. He thinks that if more people could escape the city and live in the country, the world would be a better place. He wants to be part of a big family reunion where lots of children love one another and offer peace on earth.
