Knowin' you have someone that cares?
You don't ever have to be lonely
You'll always have somebody there
And don't it make everything a little bit easier
Knowin' you have someone like me?
A hand to take you to the light
When it gets a little bit too dark to see
That you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me to hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me to hold on to)
Yes, and don't it make every chance worth taking
Even when you try and fail?
Don't it make all the pain worth the aching
To look around and find somebody there?
Don't it make it all seem a little bit easier
Knowin' that I'll always be there to take you to the light?
When it gets a little bit too dark to see
That's when I like to stop and remind you
That you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me to hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me to hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me)
I got you
I got you
I got you
High or low, happy or sad
You know I'm gonna be right there
Sharin' your smile, dryin' your eyes
Anytime and anywhere
'Cause you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me to hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me to hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me to hold on to)
Got me to hold on to (You've got me)
You've (You've got me) got me to hold on to (Hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me) got me to hold on to (Hold on to)
Yeah, you've (You've got me) got me to hold on to
Dave Loggins's song You've Got Me to Hold Onto is a beautiful tribute to the power and importance of having someone in your life who cares for you. The lyrics are about the feeling of security and comfort that comes from knowing you have someone who will always be there for you, through thick and thin. Loggins tells his lover that they will never have to be lonely because they will always have him by their side, no matter what happens. He believes that having someone like him to hold onto makes life a little bit easier, and every chance worth taking, even if it ends in failure.
Loggins's lyrics also talk about the pain and suffering that life can bring, but how having someone to share that burden with can make it all seem bearable. He sings about how having someone there to hold onto makes everything seem a little bit brighter, even when it feels like the darkness is closing in. The song is a beautiful expression of the power of love and the importance of having someone to lean on during the difficult times in life.
