The duo gained attention with the release of a 1996 concert "Live at Luther College". VH1 recorded a 1999 performance to air as part of the program "Storytellers."
During the Dave Matthews & Friends tours, Dave and Tim opened with an acoustic set; however, they have played midset at some more recent shows.
Recently, the duo embarked on their first tour of Europe, marking their first tour outside of the States, as well as their first extended tour since the Winter 2003 tour.
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds have most recently released "Live at Radio City", a 2DVD/2CD album on August 14th, 2007 recorded in April of the same year.

When the world was just a pancake
Fears would arise
That if you went too far, you'd fall
But with the
Passage of time
It all became more of a ball
As we all once were when the world was flat
So I wonder this
As life billows smoke inside my head
This little game
Where nothing is sure (oh)
Why would you play by the rules
Who did, you did, you
Who did, you did, you
When was it killed
The very last dodo bird
And was she aware
She was the very last one
So I wonder this
As life billows smoke inside my head
This little game
Where nothing is sure (oh)
Why would you play by the rules
Who did, you did, you
Who did, you did, you
You say who did, you did, you
If all the things that you are saying now
Were true enough but still what is all the worrying about
We can work it out
We can work it out
Oh I wonder this
As life billows smoke inside my head
This little game
Where nothing is sure (oh)
Why would you play by the rules
Who did, you did, you
Who did, you did, you
You say who did, you did, you
The lyrics of "Dodo" by Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds, Trey Anastasio, Tony Hall, and Brady Blade begin with a metaphorical reference to the time when people believed the world was flat - that if you ventured too far from the edge, you would fall off. However, over time, people came to realize that the world was actually round and therefore, the fear of falling became less real. The song suggests that, similarly, life is a game where nothing is certain or clear-cut, so why bother playing by rules or worrying about anything that may or may not happen.
The song then turns to the reference to the last Dodo bird, and questions whether it was aware that it was the last of its kind. This imagery speaks to the larger theme of extinction and the human tendency to disregard the consequences of our actions until it is too late. The song poses an existential question about the purpose and rules of life, encouraging listeners to question the established norms and explore uncharted territories.
The chorus reiterates the question of why we should play by the rules and who actually did, followed by a plea to work out our problems instead of worrying about them. The repetitive nature of the song underscores the cyclical nature of life and the futility of worrying about things we cannot control.
