The duo gained attention with the release of a 1996 concert "Live at Luther College". VH1 recorded a 1999 performance to air as part of the program "Storytellers."
During the Dave Matthews & Friends tours, Dave and Tim opened with an acoustic set; however, they have played midset at some more recent shows.
Recently, the duo embarked on their first tour of Europe, marking their first tour outside of the States, as well as their first extended tour since the Winter 2003 tour.
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds have most recently released "Live at Radio City", a 2DVD/2CD album on August 14th, 2007 recorded in April of the same year.
Down By The River

I'll be on your side
There is no reason
For you to hide
It's so hard for me
Staying here all alone
When you could be
Taking me for a ride
You could drag me
Over the rainbow
Take me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river
Dead
You take my hand
I'll take your hand, baby
And together we may get away
'Cause this much madness
Is too much sorrow
It's impossible
To make it today
She could drag me
Over the rainbow
Take me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river
Dead
Be on my side
I'll be on your side
There is no reason
For you to hide
It's so hard for me
Staying here all alone
When you could be
Taking me for a ride.
She could drag me
Over the rainbow,
Take me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead
The song "Down by the River" by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds is a hauntingly beautiful tune with ambiguous lyrics that leave much to interpretation. At first listen, the song appears to be about a man trying to lure his lover away with promises of adventure and escape from the mundane. He is urging her to be on his side, promising to be on hers, and assuring her that there is no reason for her to hide. The chorus is less clear, seeming to overtly reference the notion of running away but also alluding to violent acts. The singer says that the woman could drag him over the rainbow, as in beyond the horizon and to a better place, and take him away down by the river- a place they can escape to together. However, he also confesses to having shot his lover down by the river, leaving her dead, which seems at odds with the rest of the song's message.
One interpretation of the song is that the singer is attempting to comfort his lover, who is feeling overwhelmed by sorrow and madness. He wants to take her away from all of that to a peaceful place by the river, where they can be together. However, he is also confessing to having committed a violent act against her in the past, implying that his intentions are not entirely pure or reliable. The ambiguity of the lyrics leaves much up to interpretation, leaving the listener to decide the true meaning of the song.

just an opinion... but one of the best acoustic shows ever. The people that went to this show got a real treat. Tim is so good and even cooler in person I got a once in life time opportunity to meet him. Great dude and a godly inspiration to play!

I was there! We tried in 2003. Could only get one ticket. 4th row. Long story on what my buddy did with that ticket. Tried again in 07. Lucked out. Memorable indeed.

Seen them in Glasgow. Amazing show. To this day still one of the best concerts I have been to.

Agree so much this was always my favorite album/DVD. Iโve seen him live several times but never like this. I compare this to the Nirvana and Alice N Chains unplugged. Would have loved to have been there.
@plumbermancan
Best cover ever from Dave IMHO.
