Satellite
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Lyrics

Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder.
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping tom for the mother station
[Chorus]
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
Everything good needs replacing
Look up, look down all around, hey satellite
Satellite, headlines read
Someone's secrets you've seen
Eyes and ears have been
Satellite dish in my yard
Tell me more, tell me more
Who's the king of your satellite castle?
[Chorus]
Rest high above the clouds no restrictions
Television we bounce 'round the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reeling,
I laugh about the weatherman's satellite eyes.
Satellite in my eyes
Like a diamond in the sky
How I wonder.
Satellite strung from the moon
And the world your balloon
Peeping tom for the mother station
[Chorus]
Rest high above the clouds no restrictions
Television you bounce from the world
And while I spend these hours
Five senses reeling
I laugh about this world in my satellite eyes.
The song "Satellite" by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds is a reflection on the role that technology plays in our lives. The opening lyrics describe the image of a satellite in the sky, comparable to a diamond shining above. The song then goes on to describe the function of satellites, acting as peeping toms for the mother station by transmitting information from faraway places, including secrets. The chorus of the song then talks about the fleeting nature of time and how everything good must eventually be replaced.
The second verse contemplates the role of the satellite dish in the presenter's backyard as a means of accessing information from the larger network. Throughout the song, there is a sense of wonder and awe towards technology and its ability to connect people around the world. The final verses express an appreciation for the freedom offered by technology, allowing us to transcend boundaries and to laugh about the world as seen through the eyes of a satellite.

His voice and talent have only gotten better since he started. Was looking back at some of his first live performances and though I was in love with him then, it doesnt even COMPARE to what he does now! He is amazing!
