Venus In Furs
Dave Navarro Lyrics
Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Comes in bells, your servant, don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart
Downy sins of streetlight fancies
Chase the costumes she shall wear
Ermine furs adorn imperious
Severin, Severin awaits you there
I am tired, I am weary
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears
Kiss the boot of shiny, shiny leather
Shiny leather in the dark
Tongue of thongs, the belt that does await you
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart
Severin, Severin, speak so slightly
Severin, down on your bended knee
Taste the whip, in love not given lightly
Taste the whip, now plead for me
I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears
Shiny shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girlchild in the dark
Severin, your servant comes in bells, please don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

It's not exactly uncommon for band / artists to record cover versions of songs that have influenced them, and are important to them. It's called respect, why would someone try to merely copy the original exactly? I'm not blaming anyone for not liking this version, but completely slating it is totally out of order.

You underestimate the power of music. It affects different people in different ways, an it does not make you an idiot if it's your mode of escape when life seems hopeless. In some cases it has been their only mode of escape. Don't even think of denying this - I've seen it firsthand, and I know several people who would not be here today if it wasn't for music . Obviously I can't prove that here so you're just gonna have to trust me on that one.

I guess it could be considered more of a "version" rather than a cover. I think it´s very cool. Brilliant in some parts!
