Silence
Dave Pearce Lyrics

Witness me
I am outside
Give me peace
Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to believe that I'd get caught up
When the rage in me subsides
Chokes the flower
Until she cries no more
Possessing all the beauty
Hungry still for more
Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to believe that I'd get caught up
When the rage in me subsides
In this white wave
I am sinking
In this silence
In this white wave
In this silence
I believe I can't help this longing
Comfort me I can't hold it all in
If you won't let me
Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to believe that I'd get caught up
When the rage in me subsides
In this white wave
I am sinking
In this silence
In this white wave
In this silence
I believe I have seen you
In this white wave
You are silent
You are breathing
In this white wave
I am free
The lyrics to Dave Pearce's song Silence present a sense of longing, desperation and a pursuit for peace. The opening lines "Give me release, Witness me, I am outside, Give me peace" suggests that the singer is pleading for attention and release from their current mental and emotional state. The repetition of the line "Heaven holds a sense of wonder, And I wanted to believe that I'd get caught up, When the rage in me subsides" portrays the singer's yearning for some sort of epiphany, a moment of clarity and understanding, that will lead to the release from their inner rage. The idea that the "passion chokes the flower Until she cries no more, Possessing all beauty, Hungry still for more" signifies how the singer has lost their joy and happiness, and is still searching for them despite their inner turmoil.
The image of the "white wave" signifies the purity of a clean slate or a fresh start, but at the same time the singer is sinking in it, indicating their inability to move on or escape their current situation. The final lines of "I believe I have seen you In this white wave, You are silent, You are breathing, In this white wave, I am free" provides a glimmer of hope and an insight that the way for the singer to find release is by letting go of whatever it is they are holding onto and embracing the moment.
