Something About You
David Anthony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That a love carved out of caring
Fashioned by fate, could suffer so hard
From the game played much too often
And making mistakes
Is a part of life's imperfections
Born of the years, it's not so wrong
Drawn into the stream
Of undefined illusion
Those diamond dreams
They can't disguise the truth
And there is something about you, baby, so right
I couldn't be without you, baby, tonight
If ever our love was concealed
No one could say that
You didn't feel a million things
In a perfect dream of life
Gone, fragile but free
We remain tender together
Not so in love, it's not so wrong
We're only human after all
These changing years
They add to your confusion
Oh, when you need to hear
The time that told the truth
There is something about you, baby, oh so right
Don't wanna be without you here tonight
And there is something about you, baby, oh so right
Don't wanna be without you here tonight
And there is something about you, baby, oh tonight
Don't wanna be without you here tonight
(Something about you, baby, oh so right)
It's what makes the world go round
It's what makes the rivers flow and
(Don't wanna be without you here tonight)
It's what makes the sparrows sing, and
It's what makes the flowers grow, and
(Something about you, baby, oh so right)
It's what gives the babies breath, and
It's what gives the sun its shine
(Don't wanna be without you here tonight)
It's what makes the Phillies play
The lyrics of David Anthony's song "Something About You" explore the complexities of love and relationships. The opening lines express confusion about how it is possible for a love that was carved out of caring to suffer so much. The singer acknowledges that making mistakes is a natural part of life's imperfections and that everyone is only human after all. Throughout the song, a central theme is the realization that there is something unique and essential about the person the singer is addressing. This is emphasized by the repeated refrain of "there is something about you, baby, oh so right."
The verses convey a sense of the ebb and flow of love, with lines like "gone, fragile but free / we remain tender together" and "not so in love, it's not so wrong." The singer acknowledges that love can be confusing and that the changing years add to that confusion, but that there is a truth that needs to be heard. Despite the challenges and imperfections of love, the singer expresses a deep desire to be with the person addressed, both tonight and always.
Overall, the lyrics of "Something About You" paint a vivid portrait of the beauty and messiness of love, as well as the way that even in the midst of confusion and imperfection, there is something essential that draws us to each other.

Anne Frankly My Dear, I don't give a Damn
Ooh...
Ooh...
How - how can it be that a love
Carved out of caring fashioned by fate
Could suffer so hard
From the games played much too often
But making mistakes is a part
Of life's imperfections born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all
Drawn into the stream
Of undefined illusion
Those diamond dreams
They can't disguise the truth
That there is something about you
Baby so right
I wouldn't be without you baby tonight
If ever our love was concealed
No one can say that we didn't feel
A million things
And a perfect dream of life
Gone, fragile but free
We remain tender together
If not so in love
It's not so wrong
We're only human after all
These changing years
They add to your confusion
Oh and you need to hear the time
That told the truth
That there is something about you
Baby so right
Don't want to be without you
Baby tonight
Because there's something about you
Baby so right
I couldn't live without you
Baby tonight
Ooh...
Ooh...
And there's something about you
I couldn't live without you
Tonight

I love the original and definitely this one too. Level 42 guys must be so proud, how Anthony brought their beautiful song back in the music charts. The greatest compliment is when an Artist re- interprets another Artist's work in a beautiful wonderful way, thus paying homage and honour. Double blessings all round. 😍😘😄😇😀❤️
