Inspired by Coldplay and John Mayer, he started playing guitar when he was 15 years old and learned to sing. Not long after he started writing his own songs.
In highschool he started a band, 'The Relish', and became more known to the Dutch listeners thanks to Popronde, a Dutch festival that takes place in over 40 cities. They signed a contract with a label, but this did not work out well. The band broke-up and David Benjamin set music aside for a couple of years.
Since 2014, he is back and comes with catchy folk-popsongs to brighten your summer. In 2016, his first EP came out called David Benjamin EP (#3).
Back to You
David Benjamin Lyrics

Walk on down the street where we grew up
I can hear the wind sing from the oak trees
The ones where we would climb up to the top
The sun, it dips the rooftops into yellow
Look at our old high school down the road
The place I took my first love to the movies
So many years already have gone by
But I told you that I was coming back
Back to you
Back to you
I will always come back to you
Back to you
Back to you
In the end all roads lead back to you
I meet some of my friends down at the old bar
See what's left of all our childhood dreams
At least there is one thing we know for certain
We will never change
So many years already have gone by
But I told you that I'm always coming back
Back to you
Back to you
I will always come back to you
Back to you
Back to you
In the end all roads lead back to getting lost
If getting lost is what I'll have to do
To know that every road will bring me back
Or take me home
Back to you
Back to you
I will always come back to you
Back to you
Back to you
In the end all roads lead back to you
The lyrics to David Benjamin's "Back to You" are filled with nostalgia and the desire to return home. The first verse begins with the singer looking up at the house they used to live in and walking down the street where they grew up. They can hear the wind singing from the oak trees they used to climb. The second verse describes the sunset and the old high school down the road where the singer took their first love to the movies. The chorus repeats the sentiment of always coming back to the person referred to as "you" and how all roads lead back to them. The third verse describes the singer meeting their friends at the old bar and reflecting on their childhood dreams. The bridge talks about the idea of getting lost to understand that every road leads back home, and ultimately back to the person they love.
The lyrics of "Back to You" are evocative in their simplicity, conveying the longing for home and the comfort of returning to one's roots. The singer's memories of climbing oak trees and holding hands with their first love demonstrate the power of place and the emotional associations tied to it. The idea of "getting lost" is a metaphor for the journey of life, where one may wander and explore, but ultimately always finds their way back home. The use of "you" throughout the song is intentionally ambiguous, leaving it up to the listener to interpret who that person is - it could be a romantic partner or a beloved family member or even a place.
