I love how Mettaton basically acts as the climax boss where once you're past him, the only opponents left are Asgore and Flowey, The Amalgamates and Asriel, or Sans depending on the route you're on, which makes it all the better he puts on a damn show (or acts as the final gatekeeper for if you stick to Genocide or not).

Just an interesting thought I was thinking about with Toriel, ASGORE, and Flowey, each of them would represent each gameplay based off of their characters. Toriel approaches situations with a calm manner, and even teaches you to "talk your way out of it, which is essentially Pacifist mode. ASGORE has the six other souls because he felt that he had to do it for the sake of all monsters so in his mind, it's the right thing to do by whatever means, which is what the meaning of Neutral mode is. Then there's Flowey who just wants everyone dead, Genocide.

Those songs were my absolute favorites after playing Undertale! I would listen to them nonstop whenever I was doing literally anything that I had the ability to do while listening to something. I think my favorite thing about a lot of these songs is:

A) How often you can come back to them and not get bored of them, and

Hopes and Dreams reflects how it is impossible for you to win against Asriel but you’ve come too far to fail.
Asgores them reflects how he feels like he doesn’t deserve mercy or forgiveness because of everything he’s done and that he HAS to take your soul for everyone in the underground.
Battle against a true hero is how you are no longer the good guy and how your fighting the real hero in this story.
Megalovania is basically “I can’t stop you but I’m gonna kick your ass while I stall you”

I actually recently decided to look at this game, and fell in love with the characters and the overall decision-making capability of the game. Then, the SOUNDTRACK. I am OBSESSED. So much so, I make my kids listen to this with me. So now, I can be working on something and I'll just hear Dogsong being hummed... or the Spear of Justice screamed from a room. I just love it so much, it fills me with Determination.

My favorite boss theme from this game is probably Photoshop Flowey's. I don't know if it's an underrated track or if people just don't talk about it as much as the others. Looked through the comments a bit and haven't seen that as someone's favorite yet. I just feel like it generates that "epic battle" type of feel pretty nicely. Has elements of despair as you can't do anything to the boss at first and then the finale theme generates hope as the souls guide you to victory... Not saying this "epic battle" feel doesn't apply to some of the other themes but I just love how this one drives it home the best. That's just my opinion. :)

Death by Glamour is a fucking masterpiece there's so much raw emotion in the music Toby created with synths and computerized tunes its actually beautiful. It's what old game designers had to go with mere decades ago and still had managed to pour their heart and soul into it. Music like this truly is timeless

Papyrus is too kind, often for his own and others good. He doesn’t try to kill you when you’re leaving Snowdin on genocide because he believes everyone can be a good person and he goes out of his way, not fighting you, to try to help you to be a better person and even when he gets scared you might kill him and even when you do kill him, he still says he believes in you. Papyrus is too naive to understand that some people can’t be redeemed and during the ending where Papyrus becomes the leader of the underground, he says that Sans told him that all of his friends went on holiday and during one of the ending, says he doesn’t know what happened to them and asks you to bring them back. Papyrus in this case either truly believes that in which case he is naive or he is just in denial and doesn’t want to believe it which ties in to him having a very positive view of the world. And even though he is ambitious, powerful and determined like how he tried so hard to get into the royal guard, his kindness overruled all of that. Undyne herself says she could never send him to the battlefield because he would be ripped apart into smiling shreds.
