Y AHORA PRUEBO YO
EL PRECIO DE ESTE AMOR
In "El precio de este amor," David Bustamante describes the pain and regret that comes with losing a love. He begins by expressing how his loneliness is like a prayer that hides his pain, but he still seeks a thread of his love's voice in the passion that remains within him. Despite his longing, he is aware that his despair has split his heart into two halves that are filled with reproach for himself. He then discusses his disillusion with the myth of men and their conviction, admitting that he never experienced kisses that teach you to suffer. Nevertheless, after deciding that he was the only important person, he tested his luck and drank the poison of his love's farewell.
The second verse talks about how his nights were left alone after the relationship ended, and how his life was ruined without him intending to survive. Whenever the sky asks him about "us," he always blames his fate and curses the day he said goodbye. The chorus is particularly poignant, as Bustamante sings about paying the price for the love he lost, shedding the same tears that time had ripped away from his lover. He admits that he is experiencing the same cowardice that prevented him from asking for forgiveness, and as a result, he is paying the price for the love he lost.
In the final verse, Bustamante reflects on the contradictions of the heart, acknowledging that loving someone took what mattered most to him away. He repeats that he curses the day he said goodbye, emphasizing the high cost of his decision. The song is a melancholic ode to lost love and the painful aftermath that ensues.
