Remembered as another sad story
Surrendered - what's left of a herd that was
Maybe you think you're above it
But power - She's a dangerous seductress
Don't let 'em blind you
By how far they say you can go
Some dreams don't die
As you walk down that road
On the lonliest night
I will be the one you can run to
I'll be waiting there - on that dead end street
I'll always be the one who's standin' by you
You won't ever walk alone
Down that boulevard of broken dreams
Ambition burns like a rocket
Right through you - they all say you've got it
Baby you know in your heart you can't lose
But some dreams they lie
Shot down in flames blown right out of your sky
And there's no place to go
When there's no place to go
When they all pass you by
I will be the one you can run to
I'll be waiting there - on that dead end street
I'll always be the one who's standin' by you
You won't ever walk alone
Down that boulevard of broken dreams
I'm gonna be there
When the curtain comes down
If your heart gets shattered
All over this town
You're gonna survive it baby
Just like me
You're never gonna walk alone
You won't walk alone
The lyrics of David Cassidy's song Boulevard Of Broken Dreams describe the struggle of chasing dreams while also trying to cope with the reality of failure. The beginning of the song talks about how easy it is to fall from glory and how people remember those who fail as just another sad story. The singer acknowledges that some people believe they are above failure, but they also warn that power can be a dangerous seductress. Despite this, the singer advises against letting anyone else dictate how far one can go with their dreams because some dreams never die and they never get old.
The second verse of the song goes on to describe how ambition burns through a person like a rocket, but at times it leads to the failure of one's dreams. Some dreams can die in flames, which can leave people feeling lost and without a place to go. However, the singer assures the listener that they will be there for them on that dead end street, regardless of whether or not their dreams have failed. The singer tells the listener that they can always count on them, and that together they will survive any shattered hearts and broken dreams.

Fallen far from the glory
Lost the prestige and admiration they once had
Remembered as another sad story
Recalled as a depressing and disappointing narrative
Surrendered - what's left of a herd that was
Given up what remains of a group they belonged to
Maybe you think you're above it
Perhaps you consider yourself superior to it
But power - She's a dangerous seductress
Power is an alluring and hazardous temptress
Don't let 'em blind you
Don't allow them to obscure your perception
By how far they say you can go
Based on how much they claim you can accomplish
Some dreams don't die
Certain aspirations persist despite opposition
Some dreams won't ever grow old all your live
specific goals never become outdated throughout your existence
As you walk down that road
As you proceed through that situation
On the loneliest night
During the most desolate moment
I will be the one you can run to
I will be the person you may depend on
I'll be waiting there - on that dead end street
I will remain present in that cul-de-sac
I'll always be the one who's standin' by you
I will always be the one who supports you
You won't ever walk alone
You will never be abandoned
Down that boulevard of broken dreams
On that path of shattered aspirations
Ambition burns like a rocket
Zeal blazes with intensity
Right through you - they all say you've got it
Straight through you - everyone says you possess it
Baby you know in your heart you can't lose
Darling, you are aware in your heart that you cannot be defeated
But some dreams they lie
However, some aspirations are deceptive
Shot down in flames blown right out of your sky
Destroyed instantly, and disappearing from sight
And there's no place to go
And there is no location to proceed to
When they all pass you by
When they all overlook you and walk past you
I'm gonna be there
I will be present
When the curtain comes down
When the act comes to an end
If your heart gets shattered
If your heart is broken into pieces
All over this town
Throughout this entire city
You're gonna survive it baby
You will endure it, darling
Just like me
Just like myself
You're never gonna walk alone
You will never be unaccompanied
You won't walk alone
You will not be alone

I agree ...
David was so much more charming than his father,
he had warmth in his eyes, his father's eyes were cold
David did everything he did with dedication and Charisma
and yet it was never enough for his father
His father thought HE was the best actor (narcisstic personality) and kept David small ...
David had enough self-love to endure it, but the wound remained ...
someday, when you has spent all your Charm, all your Love, all your Money, definitely broken from all the struggles for love, which you fought always with the broken heart of a child, you realize,
You thought you gave everything for love, but it was never enough, because this one wound never heals ... :-(

I met David Cassidy, briefly, in L.A. right after he finished doing "Blood Brothers" with Shaun on broadway, just before he appeared on the Tonight Show that night. He was the nicest person and his eyes were absolutely amazing upclose, they sparkle like a couple of diamonds! He was born with this amazing charisma and, despite the rise and he still holds this God given beautiful light. God Bless you David! I loved you at 10 and you'll always be special to me.

My Wife when she was about 20 years old........ran into David and his then-wife at a Dodger game.....he was very generous with his time.....

I cry inside for beautiful David - how could his father be jealous of his son? David just wanted to make him proud. A gorgeous and talented soul gone too soon
@neonarcade3562
I know, that's so cruel. Being so cruel to David. David just loved making people happy. Spreading love. My father was so cruel to me too.
So I kind of understand. It's so unfair.

This song is from one of my favorite albums of David’s. He and Sue Shifrin did write really beautiful music together. I can’t look at pictures of Jack without feeling a lot of anger about what his behavior towards David cost his son for the rest of his life. I think David resembles his gorgeous mother.
