Daydream
David Cassidy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

What a day for a daydream
What a day for a daydreamin' boy
And I'm lost in a daydream
I'm dreamin' bout my bundle of joy.

And even if time ain't really on my side
It's one of those days for takin' a walk outside
I'm blowin' the day for takin' a walk in the sun
And fall on my face on somebody's new-mowed lawn.

I been havin' a sweet dream
I been dreamin' since I woke up today
It's starring me and my sweet feelin'
'Cause she's the one that makes me feel this way.

And even if time is passin' me by a lot
I couldn't care less about the dues you say I've got
Tomorrow I'll pay my dues for dropping my load
A pie in the face for bein' a sleepy bull toad.

And you can be sure that if you're feelin' right
A daydream will last 'til long into the night
Tomorrow at breakfast you may prick up your ears
Or you may be daydreamin' for a thousand years.

What a day for a daydream
What a day for a daydreamin' boy
And I'm lost in a daydream
I'm dreamin' bout my bundle of joy.

...
Make me feel so good.

Overall Meaning

David Cassidy had everything in his prime: a uniquely beautiful voice, sex appeal and a look to melt away. Thank you for the music. Rest in peace.

Here is another song where he has that "rock opera" sound! I love those "growl" type of emphasis he puts in his work around this time of his recordings! He voice sounds so sweet yet strong and captivating!! Always loved that concert pose at 0:47 with his white outfit. He's something else!!

You're welcome! David was the most beautiful image back in the 70's (and for eternity for me). Unbeatable and time will tell...

Am I the only one that almost feels obsessed with finding every single recording he made? I've done this since the day he died.

I've asked tons of friends, and those of us in the Midwest got less exposure to his work than the rest of the US. It makes me wonder why. The best guess I can come up is that the executives at the radio stations had no interest in him.

Love this version of a true classic, given David's touch of class.
