David Garrett Lyrics

Stars to fill my dream
I am a traveller of both time and space
To be where I have been
Sit with elders of a gentle race
This world has seldom seen
Talk of days for which they sit and wait
All will be revealed
Talk an' song from tongues of lilting grace
Sounds caressed my ears
And not a word I heard could I relate
The story was quite clear
Whoah-ohh-oh
Whoah-ohh-oh-oh
Ooh, oh, baby I been blind
No-yeah, ah mama, there ain't no denying
Oh, oooh yes, I've been blind
Ma-ma-ma, ain't no denying, no denying, yeah
Oh! All I see turns to brown
As the sun burns the ground
And my eye fill with sand
As I scan this wasted land
Tryin'a find, tryin'a find
Where I been - ooh-ooh-ooh
Oh pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
Like thoughts inside a dream
You've the map that led me to that place
Yellow desert screen
My Shangri-la beneath the summer moon
I will return again
As the dust that blows high in June
When moving through Kashmir
Oh father of the four winds fill my sails
'Cross the sea of years
With no provision but an open face
Along the straits of fear
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh, oh, oh
Oh! When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah!
When I see, when I see the way you stay yeah!
Ooh yeah-yeah, ooh yeah-yeah. When I'm down, yes
Ooh yeah-yeah, ooh yeah-yeah. When I'm down, so down
Ooh my baby, ooh my baby let me take you there
Oh, come on, come on, oh let me take you there
Let me take you there
Ooh yeah yeah, ooh yeah yeah ... (fades out)
The lyrics of David Garrett's "Kashmir" invite the listener to embark on a journey to a far-off land, to explore uncharted territories and to connect with a gentler, wiser world. The opening lines, "Whoa let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream," evoke a sense of openness, a readiness for new experiences. The narrator introduces himself as a traveller of both time and space, someone who has been to places that many people have not seen. He then describes sitting with elders of a gentle race, people who have wisdom beyond their years and who wait for days when all will be revealed. The juxtaposition of the narrator's wanderlust and the wisdom of the elders creates a feeling of reverence for both the journey and the destination.
The next stanza shifts the narrative into a more ambiguous space. The narrator hears sounds caressed in his ears and the story is clear, yet he cannot relate. It is as if he is on the cusp of understanding something profound, yet the meaning remains elusive. This disorientation is emphasized by the repetition of "Whoah-ohh-oh, Whoah-ohh-oh-oh", which create a haunting, otherworldly effect. The final lines of this stanza reveal a sense of confusion and disconnection, where all the narrator sees is brown with sand filling his eyes. He is trying to find where he has been, but it is unclear if he will find a sense of clarity and purpose.
The final stanza seems to reconcile the distances between the two worlds the narrator moves through, as he refers to a "pilot of the storm who leaves no trace" and a "father of the four winds." These lines evoke a sense of guiding forces that lead the narrator on his journey. He explores the "Yellow desert screen," a Shangri-La "beneath the summer moon." The final lines are an invitation to the listener, as the narrator promises to take them with him to this magical place. The chorus emphasizes the urgency of this invitation, the desire to share this experience with another human being. The song ends on this note, leaving the listener with a sense of longing and possibility, a sense that there are vast mysteries to be explored both within ourselves and in the world around us.

When Garrett was four years old, his father bought a violin for his older brother. The young David took an interest and soon learned to play. A year later, he took part in a competition and won first prize. By the age of seven, he was playing once a week in public. He studied violin at the Lubeck Conservatoire. At the age of 12, he began working with the distinguished Polish violinist Ida Haendel, often travelling to London and the other European cities to meet her. At the age of 13, he recorded two CDs, appeared on German and Dutch television, and gave a concert in the residence of the Federal Republic of Germany President, the Villa Hammerschmidt, at Dr. von Weizsäcker’s personal invitation. He was offered the use of the famous Stradivarius "San Lorenzo", which is among the best instruments of the "golden period". At the age of 14, as the youngest soloist ever, he signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft. At the age of 17, he played with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta in Delhi and Bombay in concerts marking the 50th anniversary of India’s Independence. At the age of 19, he played with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchster in Berlin, under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and was hailed by critics. This led to an invitation to perform at Expo 2000 in Hannover. He continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London. At the age of 21, he was invited to perform at the BBC Proms. He graduated from the Juilliard School in 2004.
While studying at the Juilliard School in New York City, as one of the first students to study with Itzhak Perlman, Garrett supplemented his income by working as a model. Some fashion writers have described him as "the David Beckham of the classical scene".
In December 2007, Garrett fell after a performance at Barbican Hall in London, and smashed his rare violin, initially reported as a Stradivarius, but later corrected to having been made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. Garrett had purchased the instrument four years earlier for USD 1 million.[3] It was estimated that it would cost $120,000 to repair.[4]

@jdstep97 totally!!! Look, I understand that everyone has different taste in music. His style may not please everyone, but to say he isn't talented or he is bad as an artist is utter rubbish and pure jealousy! David is a legend in his unique way. There are songs that sound better played by his violin than by their own original artists.. that is not an easy achievement for any artist.. so I think some people are just a bit silly or harsh..

Every time I listen to this it brings to my eyes, tears. Not of joy or sadness, but to hear the music being played. I do not hear it but feel it somewhere in my chest and it provokes this reaction.
