He adopted the stage name David Garrick from a British stage actor of the 17th century.
David then recorded his first album which was again a hit, featuring the songs "Lady Jane" and of course "Dear Mrs Applebee" The other songs in the album were mostly folksy English ballads.
David's version of "Lady Jane" was considered by many as better than the original by Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones and radio stations begin to receive request for David,s version to be played instead.
David seem to disappear from the pop scene after his first hit album but resurfaced during the 80's with limited success. Nevertheless some of his songs like "Amarillo" and "Seasons in the Sun" are frequently featured over the air waves.
David tried to show-case his opera singing talents when he recorded the album "Appassionata" which features "O Sole Mio"," Santa Lucia" and " La Donna E Mobile". Response to this album was lukewarm.
I've Found a Love

There you were, holding a love so true,
Now I've got a home, now I've got a home.
I found a love, hidden in a backstreet
I found a love, baby
I found a love, hidden in a backstreet
Hidden away from the world, baby
Baby, you really make me feel like a king, a king without a crown.
But darlin', Promise me one little thing: That you won't let me down.
I found a love, hidden in a backstreet
I found a love, baby
I found a love, hidden in a backstreet
Hidden away from the world, baby
Don't ever tell me lies baby,
Don't take it for a ride baby,
Just stay here by my side baby,
We won't ever stop.
I found a love, hidden in a backstreet
I found a love, baby
I found a love, hidden in a backstreet
Hidden away from the world, baby
The lyrics of David Garrick's song "I've Found a Love" appear to be about finding true love in an unexpected place. The singer describes how he has never had anything that he could truly call his own in his life, until he met this person who holds a love so true that he finally feels like he has a home. The love is described as being hidden away in a backstreet, away from the rest of the world.
The singer expresses how this person he has found makes him feel like a king, but he also asks them not to let him down. He is clearly very invested in this newfound love and wants it to last, as shown by the repetition of the chorus and the final lines where he implores his love not to take him for a ride and to stay by his side.
Overall, the song seems to be an expression of gratitude for finding something so precious and valuable in an unexpected place, and a plea to his love to make it last. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the importance and depth of the love that he has found.
