Having tasted fame and fortune and life as a celebrity, in October 2003 David made the shock announcement that he wanted to quit his career as a pop artist in order to concentrate full time on his songwriting. However, just six months later he made a low-key comeback as the lead-singer of indie-pop/rock band The Sham. Although they were together for less than a year the band achieved some success, releasing a single, 'Goodbye Baby' in October 2004 which, albeit briefly, topped the 7digital download chart ahead of U2 and Keane, and they appeared as one of the headline acts at the 2004/5 Hogmanay celebrations in Aberdeen, playing to a crowd of 40,000 along with Deacon Blue and Hugh and Cry.
Although never officially announcing a split, in the spring of 2005, the individual members of The Sham went their separate ways, pursuing individual projects and David returned to his 'day job', working full-time as a songwriter for other artists. To date, his most notable collaborations include: co-writer on international hit 'The Message' for critically acclaimed UK soul singer Nate James, and more recently with Julian Perretta who's debut single is due for release in August 2009.
David still performs as a solo artist occasionally, mainly at venues in the London area and is a regular at the Bedford, Regal Room and Troubadour.
In January 2007 he released a download EP entitled 'White Noise' - featuring brand new acoustic studio tracks - which, in David's own words: "Sold a sh*tload more than I thought it would". Since its release, the EP has continually hovered in and around the top 20 of the 7digital indiestore chart.
Early in 2007 David promoted the EP on the 'Lads Tour' - a mini-tour of gigs across the South of England with fellow singer/songwriters Jake Hook and Chris Townsend. The following August, he performed a series of sellout gigs at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival, as well as an impromptu appearance as a street busker with the Martians, the band he left five years earlier in 2002 prior to entering Fame Academy.
Throughout much of 2008 David wrote, played piano and gigged with Dave Gibson (another young singer/songwriter from Glasgow who has recently signed to Colombia) and in October 2008 they both performed at the ScotsCare charity gig at the Bedford in London.
In 2009 David continues to persue a career as songwriter in partnership with fellow ex-Sham member Jay Mein. The two of them recently signed a new deal with SonyATV.

She Needs To Know
David Sneddon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hoping someday that life will go his way
No-one else believed him
She stands besides him
Taking every knock in the hope that it will pay
Because no-one would believe him
And she wants to know
How its gonna go
Just how long will this go on for?
I can't make it work alone
And i need to know just how far to go
She knows she loves him
Watching him wish his life away is hard
Is hard to keep on wishing
But she is happy it's him that she wants
She'll love him 'til the end
And he knows that she wants to know
How it's gonna go
And she needs to know
Just how long will this go on for
I can't make this work alone
And i need to know is how far to go
And one morning he goes to her to say
Are you sitting down, baby?
OK, are you ready for this?
I've been given a chance
Pack your bags
We're moving away
And she smiles with tears in her eyes
Because now she knows how its gonna go
Just how long will this go on for?
I can't make it work alone
And i need to know how its gonna go
Just how long will this go on for
I can't make it work alone
And i need to know how far to go, how far to go
She needs to know
She needs to know
She needs to know
Well she needs to know
Yeah, yeah it's an up hill rising
What she means to me
Because she needs to know
She wants to know
She needs to know.......
The song "She Needs To Know" by David Sneddon tells the story of a woman who stands by the man she loves despite all odds, hoping that someday he will succeed in life. The woman understands him and takes every knock with him in the hope that it will pay off in the end. She loves him very deeply but watching him waste his life away is hard for her. She wants to know how their future will be and how long they'll have to endure the struggles.
The chorus "And she needs to know, just how long will this go on for? I can't make it work alone and I need to know just how far to go" emphasizes how important communication and knowing the future is for the woman. The song has a hopeful ending, where the man manages to get a chance and tells the woman that they are moving away. She smiles with tears in her eyes because she finally knows their future is bright.
Overall, the song is about the ups and downs of love and how important knowing the future is. It shows the importance of communication and being there for each other through the hard times.
