O Come All Ye Faithful
David T. Clydesdale Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him
Born the King of Angels
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord!

God of God, Light of Light
Lo, He abhors not the Virgin's womb
Very God
Begotten, not created
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord!

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God
All glory in the highest
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord!

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning
Jesus, to Thee be glory given
Word of the Father
Now in flesh appearing
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord!

Overall Meaning

The song 'O Come All Ye Faithful' is a Christian hymn, inviting Christians to rejoice in the birth of Christ. The joyous and triumphant tone of the hymn is evident right from the opening line, "O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!" The hymn is an invitation to believers to come to Bethlehem and witness the birth of Jesus, who is referred to as the King of Angels. The hymn invites everyone to adore and worship Christ the Lord.

The second stanza of the hymn describes Jesus as 'Light of Light, very God, begotten, not created.' This is a reference to the belief of the Christian faith that Christ is the Son of God, who was not created but was begotten or brought forth by God the Father. The third stanza invites the angels and citizens of heaven to join in the song of exultation and glory to God, acknowledging the significance of Christ's birth.

The final stanza of the hymn greets Jesus as born that happy morning, with glory given to him as the Word of the Father, now appearing in flesh. The overall theme of the hymn is the adoration and worship of Christ, who is the Lord and King of Angels.

The Barn On Pender

Hello; I know this is a long shot, but if you have this cassette in your possession, would you provide a tracklist for it here in the comments? I would greatly appreciate that. I have to agree with your assessment of this music. I remember vividly the first time I popped it into the cassette player in the car and blasted the volume. I remember it still. Thanks for uploading this - the cassette and any info is now virtually absent from the internet.
