It's a Beautiful View
Days of Worth Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've been in this for me, not you, that's the score.
I apologise, but it seems to me
You're now a passenger on someone else's wave.
Falling deeper in...
It's a beautiful view from where I am,
It's a beautiful view from where I stand.
And everything's alright.
And apparently I struck a nerve
On the shell of your feminine learning curve...
I apologise (but it seems to me
I might as well get a cheap thrill out of what I deserve).
The first line of the song "It's so clear to me, just like semaphore," sets the tone for the rest of the track. Semaphore is a system of sending messages by holding the arms or two flags in different positions. The lead singer of Days of Worth is using this metaphor to describe how clear the situation is to him. He knows he has been selfish in the relationship and has been doing things for himself instead of taking the needs of his partner into account. He is apologizing for his actions but still believes that his partner is now just riding someone else's wave as he has moved on from the relationship.
The chorus of the song talks about the beauty of the present moment. The lead singer is looking out at the view and enjoying the fact that everything is finally alright. He is in a good place and is content with the current moment.
The bridge of the song takes on a slightly different tone. The lead singer talks about striking a nerve and possibly getting a cheap thrill out of the situation. He understands that his actions have hurt the person he was in a relationship with but is still trying to find a way to justify them.
