Foreigner
De/Vision Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Coming from the stars
Into that space
No healing
When a lonely heart's displaced
Left behind
In a foreign land
So should he dare
To reach out his small hand

He's a foreigner
He will never be same
A foreigner
Wants to be from where he came

Coming from the stars
Into that world
So far away
From what he calls his home
A begging to be free
To let him go
A groaning scream
Surrounding any soul

He's a foreigner
He will never be same
A foreigner
Wants to be from where he came

He's a foreigner

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to De/Vision's "Foreigner" speak of an individual who has come from the stars and finds himself displaced in a foreign land. The first verse describes the feeling of being alone and having no chance of healing from this feeling of isolation. The individual is left behind in a place that is not his home and he wonders if he should risk reaching out his small hand to try and connect with anyone around him. The chorus repeats the word "foreigner" to emphasize the feeling of being isolated and disconnected, and the desire to return to where he came from.

In the second verse, the individual is again described as coming from the stars but now he is in a world that is far away from where he calls his home. He begs for his freedom and to be released from this foreign land. The lyrics also suggest that the individual is in pain, with a groaning scream surrounding him, isolating him from any other soul. The chorus again repeats the word "foreigner," emphasizing the feeling of being a stranger in a strange land.

Overall, the lyrics to "Foreigner" are about feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around you, like a stranger in a strange land. The imagery of coming from the stars is interesting, as it suggests that the individual is not only physically displaced but also feels completely out of touch with the world around him.

Dankeeeeeeeee
