The album was the band's biggest commercial success to date, with subsequent ones selling progressively less, despite receiving high praise from critics. They were influential in the early stages of rapper/actor Mos Def's career, and are a core part of the Spitkicker collective. They are the second longest standing Native Tongues group, after the Jungle Brothers. In 2006, the group won a Grammy for their collaboration with Gorillaz on the single "Feel Good Inc."
In early 2015, they announced plans to release a Kickstarter funded upcoming 9th studio album and the Anonymous Nobody... in September 2015; it was released on August 26, 2016. The album tracks are said to be the result of multiple improvised jam sessions. The album also features guest appearances from artists such as Damon Albarn, Little Dragon, David Byrne, 2 Chainz and Snoop Dogg.

Got it going on like a big old fat high hard-on, yeah (hoo-wee)
Black Sheep in the house
Sweet daddy Mr. Lawnge in the house
My man Andres in the house, you know what I'm sayin'
Huey Love in the house
Long Posdnuos, Dove, Prince Paul
The immigrant Lucien in the house
Come on everybody let's baseball (got it goin' on, swing it over here)
Come on everybody do the baseball (chill, chill, chill)
Come on, come on, come on, come on (wait, wait and we gon' swing it over here)
Come on everybody let's baseball (swing it over there)
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody do the baseball (and we gon' do the baseball)
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Come on everybody let's baseball (come on, chill)
A Nubian sprocket is the one
Plug One, cut the cap
Forward is the marcher of the chant
To the clan, unless you slept
Willy to the Wonka of the feat
Smoke your blunt, but close your drapes
If we get fined by police
Don't worry, yo, I got the papes
Toxic is the talk that I tell
Tell the tales from the lady who's fat
Chris made the dope beat but no Bo Peeps
(And you can't beat that with a baseball bat)
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody do the baseball
Come on, come on, come on, come on
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody do the baseball
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Come on everybody let's baseball
Swing is the is of my step
Plug Two, groove a gut
On gets by when it's kept
Three miles to my step
Forgiveness to the foes is false
I cook goose and serve a plate
Position is opposed to a loss
No cost, no relate
Brother got a badge of his own
Because the link of the life is slack
This licks 'em down to the Tootsie Pop
(And you can't beat that with a baseball bat)
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody do the baseball
Come on, come on, come on, come on
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody do the baseball
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Come on everybody let's baseball

For I cannot see where the booty is

Crack it just a bit, yo this is showbiz
It's as though a pound goes around and around
So I give a pound then I do the step
Dres will be with Boca on the side
Can I crack a smile for doz who slept
Phonetics and kinetics persevere
Therefore I kick it
I took the L.I.r.r. But I did not have a ticket
Had some Chinese food but I didn't have a spoon
I had a dope rhyme but I didn't have it soon
I'm looking out the window
Day is filled with rain and gloom
Man oh man oh man I hope I find my spoon soon
Eating large fish cause I know it ain't cat
(And you can't beat that with a baseball bat)
Come on everybody let's baseball
Come on everybody do the baseball

The song "Fanatic of the B Word" by De La Soul features several artists, including members of Black Sheep, Lucien, and Mike G, among others. The chorus of the song invites everyone to "baseball" with them, and encourages the listeners to follow suit. This term could be interpreted in different ways according to the context of the song. At the same time, the verses consist of each artist's unique delivery of lyrics, discussing topics like smoking, cooking, and daily life activities, while also dropping some humorous punchlines. Throughout the song, each artist displays their unique style, making it a true collaboration among several hip-hop artists.
The lyrics of the song may have several references that aren't immediately evident or clear, but experienced hip-hop listeners might pick up on them. For example, in one of the verses, "Willy Wonka" is mentioned, which could refer to the character from the famous childhood story, but could also be an allusion to something else that might require further interpretation. Additionally, the use of "Plug One" and "Plug Two" could signify the artists' roles within the De La Soul group, as they are often referred to by those monikers.
