New Age Girl
Dead Eye Dick Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
An environmentalist girl (Does she ride a bike)
She has crystal necklace (She spend a lot of cash)
Though her vibes are rather reckless (She's heading for a crash)
Oh her flowing skirt is blowing in a transcendental wind
And she wonders without knowing where did she begin..
Mary Moon... she's a vegetarian (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Oh, she loves me so
She hates to be alone
She don't eat meat
But she sure like the bone
You knew she drives a wind car (How does she like it)
It doesn't get her far (Why doesn't she bike it)
But it gets her to where she's going to (I don't know, I don't know, I don't know)
Where that is, I wish I knew
I don't know where she's going
And I don't know where she's been
All I know that loving her has gotta be a sin
Mary Moon... she's a vegetarian (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Mary Moon... will outlive all the septuagenarians (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Oh, she loves me so
She hates to be alone
She don't eat meat
But she sure like the bone
Mary Moon will you hesitate
Don't segregate your thought from your emotions
I know that devotion isn't way up there
Mary Moon... she's a vegetarian (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Mary Moon... will outlive all the septuagenarians (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Mary Moon... she's an intellectual (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Mary Moon... despite that fact remains quite sexual (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Mary Moon... she's the one for me, me, yeah
Dead Eye Dick's song “New Age Girl” is a satire about a woman who embodies the characteristics of the New Age movement that gained popularity in the late 90s. The opening lines, “I've got a new age girl / An environmentalist girl” paint a picture of a woman who is deeply committed to the environment, as indicated by her riding a bike and being spiritually connected (as suggested by her crystal necklace). However, the singer notes that her “vibes are rather reckless,” meaning that her dedication to these values may not always be grounded in reality.
Although Mary Moon, the singer of the song, has a transcendent energy about her, her actions are sometimes questionable. For example, while Mary Moon loves animals and all things natural, she does not eat meat but admits to “liking the bone.” This suggests that although she is committed to her New Age beliefs, she may not be fully committed or consistent with them. In fact, the final lines of the song state that “loving her has gotta be a sin,” implying that Mary Moon's beliefs are not always aligned with traditional religious or societal values.
Ultimately, “New Age Girl” portrays a woman who is indicative of the New Age movement's air of spirituality and environmentalism, but may not always be practical in her implementation of those values.

Same! I remember singing along as a kid. My mom heard me say “she don’t eat meat, but she sure like the bone”. She was shocked and told me not to say that anymore. I had no clue why.

I don't even know where the hell my brain dug this out in my brain. Pretty sure it was filed away in a locked closet of an abandoned house or something. But! I'm totally glad my brain got me to think about it.

Dumb and Dumber (ou Debi e Lóide, tal como conhecemos) was one the funniest movies ever made. Too bad the sequel was a disappointment.
