Followed the steps on my 77 280Z. Idle was inconsistent and would stall at stops when cold.
The cleaning helped return the idle to 900 rpms as before. Will check the stalling issues.

Great instructional video brother , specially some throttle bodies have a special clear coat idk if its what is called but if you use any other product besides throttle body cleaner it may damage that special coat like brake cleaner , thanks to your videos i replaced serpentine belt , spark plugs , pcv valve and learned and to change brakes on my 03 Camry .. Rpm will be higher depending on ur car if u got honda u will defiantly get check engine light and it will state rpm higher than expected but it will settle down in few drive cycles just reset the light

@RB The Mechanic 2014 Chevy SS it just started doing this the other day. I don't know if the converter stayed locked or if it the throttle body. It has a built LS3 with a 3600 stall. Been running fine for a while.

I've heard it's never a good idea to stick your fingers in an open electronic throttle body. If for some reason it decides to close they have fairly powerful gearing inside, can potentially lose a finger or two doing that. I'd use a brush, or a rag on a stick or something like that.

Liked. Hey man thanks. I was trying to figure out way my car wasnt starting, fuel pump, relay and other reason. I took off my throttle hose to spray starter into it to see if I had spark. It was left off for a while until I figured out what it was. It was the Fule pump relay. The car started up fine . But now, shuts off when I take it put of park or I try to drive. I can get it to drive but I have to baby the peddle and once she going shes fine until I come to a stop, or try to take off from one. Would it be stalling for this reason above. Would leaving the hose off of the throtle body make it not want to run. Prior to my relay goin out , It ran great.

does it depend on the car ? i have a 2013 chevy malibu and it cuts off every time i take my foot off of the gas so at a stop sign or a red light my car will cut off . there are no lights on the dash so when i went to 3 mechanics they tell me they don’t know since there are no lights . 1 mechanic told me it is my torque converter and another said the same but that i should just get a new transmission

I subscribed. I have a Chevy trailblazer 06 and my engine is stalling when I come to a light or stop sign. I be so nervous. When I take off again the engine light blinks and it will accelerate slow and then go really fast. I hope after I do this it will solve the problem. Last winter I had to crank it like 8 times because it would turn off as soon as it started before it stayed running smoothly. 😣

I taint Mistaken yo I don’t this it fuel filter but do change ur filter if it haven’t been changed check to see if ur fuel level gauge is accurate maybe it shows ur car has quarter thank but the actual fuel level might be low

Hi! I have a question about my car stalling at stop sign/red light. This happenes at idling when the car reaches working temperature. Worst off all it won't start after that, so it leaves me in the middle of the road. Otherwise starts right up every time(cold or hot). When it stalls, only way to turn it on is to wait for it to cool off, or turn the key in 2nd position and wait for 5-10 mins and then it starts like new. At shop they connected it to diagnostics and it doesn't show any codes. Tried to clean and disconnect MAF but nothing changes. My guess it's fuel pump or idle air control valve. What do you think? It's definitely not air and fuel filter, coils and spark plugs because they were changed. Also cleaned throttle body. Car is Audi A3, 1.8 gasoline, 1998, 92 kW. Thanks!

Great video man, I have a 93 BMW that kinda squeals when I hit the gas pedal, it sounds like it’s coming from the driver side too, I’m not sure if it’s the belt or something different?

My problem starts when I stop at red light or stop and the auto stop kick in. When I remove my feet from the gas to go it starts spouting like it's not getting enough gas to go. If pump gas several it will go most times car dies and I gave to restart the car. The dealer charged me for cleaning throttle and reprogramming. Still having the same problem. Please help, what can be the problem?

No you can clean the throttle it might help in some way but those cars have IAC which works like this throttle body it’s valve located on throttle body which I use to replace on older cars but they can be cleaned out u have to remove it involve some work also gaskets will brake u might have to replace that. Try this next time car is about to stall step on gas peddle to control the idle slightly press it and it car stays alive then u can try this service clean throttle and IAC

let me save ya'll 15 minutes:
1. get to your throttle body where you can expose and see it, removing intake ducting as necessary
2. turn key to on (but don't start engine)
3. put a weight on gas pedal to open up throttle if drive by wire
4. use throttle body cleaner and a rag
5. reassemble

Giant stick, rest it on the gas pedal for one end. And the other end recline the seat forward to keep it in place.

I reached inside to clean the bore the back of the flap dosent make difference I did top of bore and bottom also the edge of the flap those are the areas that restrict the air

My 1998 would die at stop lights and stop sighns and did this procedure and did not work, was pretty clean. So next I changed the idle control valve and it helped, not dieing anymore but it just idles up and down when stop somewhere. Can you help me , this is why I subscribed because it looks like you work on alot of Honda's

I don't have any engine light, and when I went to mechanic he told me that without the engine light he is not able to tell me anything. This much I know by myself. I have my simple scanner, but without the engine light I doubt it will tell me anything. Is the more advanced scanner capable of showing codes without engine light ON?

@Baby Cakes well if it’s choking due to idle or throttle then u should be able to start it up by pushing the gas peddle while cranking other wise it might be diffrent issue did u try scan for codes? If u got codes let me know

I have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. It shakes, the engine light flashes and it stalls. When I drive in the highway, if there is traffic the car cuts off. I can start it again without any issue. Please help. I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. The engine turns off/stalls after driving a mile or two at speed less than 25mph but it will start right back up. Then repeat the same thing. No codes or engine lights.

@RB The Mechanic yes, about to make a turn. So, slowing down with my foot off the gas while slightly pressing the brake. I made several turns before then but the engine did not turn off/stalled. It only starts to happen after I've driven a mile or two.
I changed the fuel filter a few weeks ago.

Going to have my fiancé try this. Just purchased a 2012 Chevy traverse and it stalls when trying to take off from a red light and then jerks when you try to pick up speed. No codes were popping up but they said it was my camshaft and crankshaft sensors and is going to cost me $1500.

U can try this but that seems like sensor problem and that’s estimate is way too much for $120 sensor

I had a 08 mitsubishi lancer and this was the best fix, now I have 2015 mitsubishi lancer evolution x and every time I press the clutch it stalls or drops below 1000 rpm.... Could this be issue too? I know the evo x has turbo so I'm not sure

..I'd say start with fuel pump fuse by engine. Add some fuel injector cleaner and or Cataclean to gas tank. Try his cleaning advice from this video. If still does problem , maybe fuel filter change. Last thing it might be is fuel pump. As I mentioned start with small and cheap stuff first.

@Mount2funny my issue was the intake and exhaust actuators. The used dealership I got the car from somehow put in actuators for an '08 Mustang!

@Steven McKinney I just had that car few days ago check the wires next t throttle body there’s 2 wires that rub against the metal bracket and they short out and they keep making connection with vibration but it might not be the problem but worth the try

Yes it should work as long as ur having same issues low rpm one trick is next time it try to stall hit the gas peddle verrrrry little to give it some bypass air if that keep it alive defiantly will fix the issues anyways do the service regardless it’s good stuff

RB, I need some advice. I took my 2006 MDX to the mechanic for this issue. Mechanic said it's the ac compressor. When I turn the heat on It starts to stall then when I put it in gear shuts off. So I drove it with no heat and no ac car still stalls. Battery is good. Im confused but when I do put the ac or heat on when I get to a light or stop sign. The Acura starts acting like it wants to shut off. No engine lights but the oul.light flashes. Then I had a lot of smoke pillow out the tail pipe. When shes rolling no smoke from tailpipe. I'm confused... Any advice would help.

@RB The Mechanic Thanks for getting back 2006 Acura Mdx. When I place it in drive the RPM is set to 1....some white smoke from tailpipe....then it starts hunting from 0-1RPM....when I put the fan on ac/heat. The acura starts to hesitate droping rpms between 0-1 bearly cutting off...oil light comes on then fades rapidly......im not sure if it's head gasket, fuel filter, throttle body, oil filter, bad gas, battery.....I'm lost Boss!! When I cut the ac/heat climate control off. Acura sits a close to 1 rpm..... this is idle..but after I drive it for a while hit a stop light or sign... it starts hunting again. Barely amd sometimes cutting completely off. Then im at the light ...thinking "baby please start" What u think could be the problem....? Im lost

I can’t honestly remember if I disconnected the battery when cleaning the MAF. I know I disconnected the electrical connection to the MAF sensor when I cleaned it. I don’t recall the idle speed going up afterwards. I replaced the battery at a different time and the idle speed also didn’t go up when the car was started.

Well anyways if u can drive the car around it will relearn. What I like to do is since it’s already low. I usually disconnect battery for 10 minutes so all memory is lost ... then I drive the car around for good 20-30 minutes on safe non traffic road you might have to use both feet since it might try to stall so keep the engine alive by pushing gas peddle slightly and brake with other Foor ... very important to have all accessories pff radio lights wipers nothing is charging ports for phone and it should relearn. Let me know how it works out

Hai! I have 2011 Volkswagen Polo petrol. I have the same issue.My car stalls at junctions where it is in idling rpm speed. Erratic idling. Rpm goes up and down. And the car loses power for a while. This doesn't happen always. And also my car shows error code p0172 rich code bank 1. Today I have cleaned throttle body as you show. Will this solve my issue. I also cleaned my MAP sensor as my car only has map not maf sensor.

Scan for the codes to see if there’s any codes. Other wise this throttle cleaning may help but to conform see what ur rpm is should be above 700 close to 800 if it’s low then clean the throttle also next time when it’s ready and about to stall try to use gas peddle slightly to see if it stay alive that’s also indication it chocking due to dirty throttle
