Do You Think?
Deadline Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On the outside it's changed - I don't think so
In my mind I'm the same - I don't think so
But the years are to blame - I don't think so
Do you think do you think I don't think so
I don't fit in this skin - In this skin
I don't feel like it's mine - It's not mine
Do you think I could turn back the time
Do you think do you think I don't think so
Do you think we can turn back the hands of the clock
And get back to where we started from?
The lyrics of Deadline's song "Do You Think?" revolve around the theme of change and the singer's struggle with it. The first verse addresses the possibility of change, questioning if it will happen. The singer then states that, despite outward appearances, they feel the same on the inside. However, the passage of time has altered their perception, leading them to believe that change has occurred. This internal conflict is reiterated in the chorus, with the singer challenging the listener's perspective and repeating the phrase "I don't think so."
The second verse delves deeper into the singer's struggle by expressing a sense of discomfort with their own physical appearance. They feel as though they do not belong in their own skin and desire to return it, similar to sending back an unwanted product. The repetition of the phrase "It's not mine" emphasizes the singer's detachment from their own body. The second chorus introduces the idea of reversing time to revert back to a previous state, further emphasizing the desire for change.
Overall, the lyrics of "Do You Think?" showcase the internal conflicts that arise when facing change, and the struggle to reconcile one's current state with their past self. The repetition of "I don't think so" serves as a thread throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's hesitation and uncertainty.
