Deadline Lyrics

Her old man said he'd kill her if she would ever tell
What happened behind closed doors that sunny summer day
What happened in her childhood when mother was away
She left home on the same day she cashed her first pay cheque
Made her way to the big town where she could start afresh
She made friends and had a life forgot about the past
She ain't been home in years since she ran away in tears
He made her laugh, he seemed to care and said â??I love youâ?? first
But he was a drunk and lost his job their marriage hit the dust
Is it too late now to get away from what he calls their life
When he wants her as a cash point doesn't want her as a wife
She ain't been home in years since she ran away in tears
The love she craved has died so she hung herself inside
The song "Secrets" by Deadline is a hauntingly beautiful and soulfully wrenching ballad that tells the tragic story of a woman who has suffered from years of abuse and feels that she has nowhere left to turn. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the woman's troubled past and the difficult present that she finds herself in. Throughout the song, the singer portrays the woman as someone who has been forced to keep her secrets hidden away from the world, unable to confide in anyone for fear of reprisals from her abusive partner or the disapproval of others.
The first verse describes how she has always hid her secret well and that she has been threatened by her old man that he would kill her if she ever tells anyone what happened to her behind closed doors on a sunny summer day. The second verse tells us how she left home on the same day she cashed her first paycheque and went to the big town where she could start afresh. She made new friends, met a guy and they went out, and she hoped that it would last. However, her hopes were short-lived as she discovers that he was a drunk who lost his job and they ended up splitting.
The chorus repeats the line that she hasn't been home in years since she ran away in tears. Her love has died, and she has finally given up on life. The last line, "so she hung herself inside," is a powerful and disturbing image that leaves the listener with a sense of hopelessness and despair.
Ultimately, "Secrets" is a poignant and heartbreaking song that reminds us of the terrible toll that abuse can take on a person's life. Through its powerful lyrics and emotive vocals, it shines a powerful spotlight on the issue of domestic violence and serves as a reminder that we must all do our part to help those who are suffering in silence.
