Take No Chances
Deadline Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't take any chances on me.
I'm not the one you want,
I'm not the one who'll say I love you,
I'm not the one who'll say I'll stay.
I just want you out of my life,
I don't want your shit anymore,
I know what you want, I've seen it before
The lyrics of Deadline's song Take No Chances seem to be a clear message from the singer to his lover. He is telling her not to take any chances on him because he is not the kind of person who will provide her with what she really wants or needs. He is not the kind of person who will say "I love you" or "I'll stay." He just wants her out of his life because he knows exactly what she wants, and he has seen it before.
The singer seems to be issuing a warning to his lover that he is not worth the effort. He knows that she wants more from him than he is willing or able to give. He doesn't want her to take any chances on him because he knows he will disappoint her. The line "I just want you out of my life" is a clear indication that the singer wants to end the relationship. He is tired of the drama and the games and he wants to move on with his life.
The lyrics of Take No Chances are a pure example of honesty in a relationship. Sometimes a person knows that they cannot live up to their partner's expectations, and this honesty can save both parties a lot of heartache in the long run. Some people might see the lyrics as cold or unfeeling, but the singer is trying to protect his lover from further disappointment. He knows that he is not the right person for her, and he is trying to let her down gently.
