The Fall
Deadsun Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

another shooting star they're cheering for us
as we fall apart
they just came to see the show
you know
a puppet on a wire
we got to give them what they came to see
it's not their fault they just don't know
no

it's not the fall that kills you
it's not the fall that kills you!

you sure do hide the scars
no one wants to see the ugly truth
we glorified instructions' path
that we have come so far hoping to be swallowed by the dream
the swirling whirl thats just too vast
way too vast

it's not the fall that kills you
it's not the fall that kills you!
when everything is stripped away from you
it's not the fall that kills you
it's not the fall that kills you!
when everything start to fall apart
it seems they left before it starts

it's not the fall that kills you
it's not the fall that kills you!
when everything is stripped away from you
it's not the fall that kills you
it's not the fall that kills you!
it falls apart no matter what you do
it's not the fall that kills you
it's not the fall that kills you!
it's not the fall that kills you
it's the sound at the start

another shooting star they're cheering for us
as we fall apart

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Deadsun's song "The Fall" convey a sense of disillusionment and the pressure to perform for others. The opening lines, "another shooting star they're cheering for us, as we fall apart" suggest a paradoxical situation where the singer is celebrated and admired despite their personal struggles and difficulties. The reference to being a "puppet on a wire" highlights the feeling of being controlled by external expectations and the need to fulfill the audience's desires.

The lyrics further explore the idea that the singer masks their pain and hides their scars, as "no one wants to see the ugly truth." This reflects society's fascination with superficiality and the tendency to glorify performers while disregarding their emotional well-being. The line "we have come so far hoping to be swallowed by the dream, the swirling whirl that's just too vast" expresses the intense desire to achieve success and recognition, even if it means sacrificing personal happiness.

The chorus, "it's not the fall that kills you, it's the sound at the start," emphasizes the idea that the real danger lies in the initial stages of a downfall or failure rather than the actual decline itself. The lyrics suggest that when everything comes crashing down and starts to fall apart, it may feel like others have abandoned the situation before it even begins. Overall, "The Fall" reflects the pressures and contradictions faced by individuals in the spotlight, as well as the fragile nature of fame and success.

My dad's friend Adam was the original drummer for this band, they met in high school. I use to own an album by them that was never (to my knowledge) officially released called "muster" or "master" I couldn't read his handwriting very well. I owned this album also. Someone broke into my car 3 years ago and stole a tshirt, and every album I've ever owned including those two.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for uploading these.

@JakeBabineauMusic

Man if you could put the songs into a playlist, in the album's order, that'd be greatly appreciated.. I know that's kind of a lot to ask for some local band to Nashville, but these guys are awesome, one of my favs... Really wish they woulda stayed together, and I hope they play another show this year.. My ex said she saw em last year, and now I gotta one up her  =P
