Dean Brody was born in Jaffray, British Columbia, Canada.[2] As a boy, Brody worked at a sawmill, also playing guitar in his spare time. By 2004, he had moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his musical career. Although he found a songwriting contract, the expiration of his US work permit forced him to move back to Canada. Eventually, he returned to Nashville through the suggestion of producer Keith Stegall, who helped him sign with Broken Bow Records in 2008.[2] Brody released his debut single, "Brothers", late that year. Shortly before its release, Brody was injured in a waterskiing accident.[3]

Farmers in the orchard, on ladders pickin' pears
Me and you drivin' Grandma's Cadillac
Gonna have a picnic on a yellow blanket in the meadow out back
Honey bees, a little lady bug
Squirrel behind a tree hangin' out with us
Gonna drink your sweet tea and a little cherry pieOn a little yellow blanket just you and I
Baby let me hold you, underneath a tree
We can sing some medley, strum a couple strings
You can have a dip, from my new skoal can
Chase you through the holler down into the creek where we can take a bath
Honey bees a little lady bug
Squirrel behind a tree hangin' out with us
Gonna drink your sweet tea and a little cherry pie
On a little yellow blanket just you and I
So many things the two of us could do
With that little yellow blanket if we wanted to
Honey bees a little lady bug
Squirrel behind a tree hangin' out with us
Gonna drink a sweet tea and a little cherry pie
On a little yellow blanket just you and I
On a little yellow blanket just you and I
The lyrics of "Little Yellow Blanket" by Dean Brody describe a scene of two young lovers spending a lazy day together in the countryside. As they drive in Grandma's Cadillac, they pass by farmers picking pears in an orchard, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. They arrive at a meadow, where they spread out a little yellow blanket to have a picnic. The mood is light and carefree as they drink sweet tea, eat cherry pie, and enjoy the company of honey bees, ladybugs, and squirrels.
The song captures the innocent joy of being young and in love, with all the promise of a bright future ahead. The reference to dipping from a new skoal can and taking a bath in the creek adds a subtle hint of rebelliousness and adventure, but overall the tone is one of peace, contentment, and harmony with nature.
Overall, "Little Yellow Blanket" is a nostalgic and whimsical tribute to simpler times and the pleasures of youth.

There are two types of country music. Some country singers like to sing about beer and broken hearts and that mushy gushy stuff, but then Dean on the other hand sticks to that old type of country. Like picnics and Sunday drives. He sure shows his Canadian roots in country music. That's what makes his songs so good and awesome to listen to!!
