Dean Brody was born in Jaffray, British Columbia, Canada.[2] As a boy, Brody worked at a sawmill, also playing guitar in his spare time. By 2004, he had moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his musical career. Although he found a songwriting contract, the expiration of his US work permit forced him to move back to Canada. Eventually, he returned to Nashville through the suggestion of producer Keith Stegall, who helped him sign with Broken Bow Records in 2008.[2] Brody released his debut single, "Brothers", late that year. Shortly before its release, Brody was injured in a waterskiing accident.[3]
Whiskey in a Teacup

Little frill on her pink tank top
Yeah, she talks kinda soft with a little country drawl
Old money in the way she walks
My baby, she looks kinda harmless
Boys hit on her from right to left
But judge a book by her cover and you're in for it, brother
She's tea with a ninety proof twist
You better like whiskey, you better like smoke
A little bit a burn when you take a toke
A triple shot of buzz in your espresso
When you take a sip, when she's on your lips
She might look like Sunday morning
But she oughta come with a general warning
If you think that you can shoot her straight
You better pucker up
'Cause she's whiskey in a teacup
Aw, she's whiskey in a teacup, woo! Ah
When she was little she learned the graces
Momma taught her how a lady should be
But Grand-mammy snuck around, took that little girl out
And let her play in the mud in the creek
Well behaved girls rarely make history
She said, "There's wild in this family tree"
So when you find a boy you love, make sure he's man enough
To hold the liquor that he's 'bout to drink
You better like whiskey, you better like smoke
A little bit a burn when you take a toke
A triple shot of buzz in your espresso
When you take a sip, when she's on your lips
She might look like Sunday morning
If you think that you can shoot her straight
You better pucker up
'Cause she's whiskey in a teacup
Aw, she's whiskey in a teacup, yeehaw, come on!
Woo!
I'll take another one down
She's the wobble in my walk
St-t-tutter in my talk
She's a party I just can't leave
She's the last call, make you fall
China Doll in overalls
And boys, she comes home with me
'Cause I like whiskey, I like a little smoke
Little bit a burn when I take a toke
A triple shot of buzz in my espresso
When I take a sip, she's on my lips
She might look like Sunday morning
But she oughta come with a general warning
If you think that you can shoot her straight
You better pucker up
'Cause she's whiskey in a teacup
She's whiskey in a teacup, up
She's whiskey in a teacup, woop, ah!
The lyrics of Dean Brody's song "Whiskey in a Teacup" describe a woman who appears to be delicate and harmless, but has a twist to her - she's a little bit wild at heart. The singer talks about how boys hit on her from both sides, thinking she's a delicate flower; however, judging her by her cover would be a mistake. The woman is described as being like tea, but with a "ninety proof twist," suggesting that she is more than what she appears to be. The chorus repeats the warning that she's "whiskey in a teacup" and that anyone who wants to be with her has to be ready for it.
The second verse reveals that the woman was brought up to believe in the graces and act like a lady, but she also has a wild side running through her family tree. The singer advises any man who wants to be with her to be "man enough" to handle her liquor. He also recites a saying that "well-behaved girls rarely make history," implying that she's not like other girls who follow the conventional rules. The bridge spells out that the woman is the wobble in the singer's walk, and he likes her because he, too, "likes whiskey, a little smoke, a little bit of a burn, and a triple shot of buzz in [his] espresso," and that when she's on his lips, she's like a Sunday morning.
