In The Chapel In The Moonlight
Dean Martin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

How I love to hear the organ
In the chapel in the moonlight
While we're strolling down the aisle
Where roses entwine

How I'd love to hear you whisper
In the chapel in the moonlight
That the lovelight in your eyes
Forever will shine

'Til the roses turn to ashes
'Til the organ turns to rust
If you never come, I'll still be there
'Til the moonlight turns to dust

How I love to hear the choir
In the chapel in the moonlight
As they sing, "Oh promise me"
Forever be mine

('Til the roses turn to ashes)
'Til the organ turns to rust
(If you never come, I'll still be there)
'Til the moonlight turns to dust

How I love to hear the choir
In the chapel in the moonlight
As they sing, "Oh Promise Me"
Forever be mine

Wonderful song, chorus, orchestration and musical arrangements. One of my favourites. Still listening in 2019.

Its just turned 2022 and I'm still listening.

I prefer the version by Celtic Frost, although it is very different, rather dark...

I find that in this one right here the orchestration and background singing are overdone.

Dean Martin has a very smooth, almost silken voice, however, and that voice fits this kind of music very well.

The song itself is quite beautiful, too.

@Eleven Seven. You’ve gotta be joking. I looked it up - listened…for ten seconds… was all I could take of that utter travesty.

I remember riding in the car in western Kansas as a child at night on the way to Colorado for a family vacation and hearing this on the radio. The song brings back nice memories, and my father always loved this song. Dean always made singing seem so effortless.
