In the summer of 2009, Danielle & Drew were touring separately across Canada, pursuing music projects. Finding they had a true connection, they began to talk of collaborating. This led them into a Vancouver studio in 2010, where they created the single “Heads Up. Watch Out.” After receiving positive feedback from music industry leaders and local fans, they toured together through Europe the following summer. While touring they decided to officially join together in creating a truly unique, creative sound “Dear Rouge”. They have completed their first EP, and are currently working on their first full length album. The band's name is a wordplay on Red Deer, a city in Alberta, Canada.

Dear Rouge Lyrics

Can't find nothing
Run with too much
Of a good thing
When we danced to the music
We come alive
In the evening it's not the same
Say you won't change
You gave everything to me
Gave you the world to be yourself
Say that you will not forget
Back when we watched the sunset
Hold on
I won't forget you
Sentimental
Think back when we're younger
It's something in our blood
Just can't ignore
We made a lot of noise
Never thinking far ahead
We're playing with fire
Our summer never ends
There was no time
Say we won't change
You gave everything to me
Gave you the world to be yourself
Say that you will not forget
Back when we watched the sunset
Hold on
I won't forget you
You wouldn't go back there
Picture where we were
No going back this time
You gave everything to me
Gave you the world to be yourself
Say that you will not forget
Back when we watched the sunset
Hold on
I won't forget you
I won't forget you
I won't forget you
I won't forget you
The song Nostalgia by Dear Rouge is about looking back at a time when things were simpler and more carefree. The opening lines suggest that although the two people in the song enjoy each other's company and have fun, they are aware that they can't keep doing what they're doing without consequences. They recognize that sometimes too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. However, when they dance to the music, they come alive, and it feels like nothing else matters. The song shifts to a nostalgic tone with the chorus, as the person speaking reminisces about the past, the moments they spent watching the sunset, and how much the other person means to them. They want to hold onto those memories and not let go.
The second verse talks about how the two people made a lot of noise, had fun, and lived in the moment. They played with fire and didn't think about the future. The sentimentality of the song comes through when they say that looking back at their youth is something they can't ignore. In the bridge, they acknowledge that they can't go back to that time, and there is no going back this time. But they won't forget each other and the memories they shared.
Overall, the song is reminiscent and sentimental, acknowledging that the past cannot be recreated, but the memories will always be cherished.
