Death Angel is often referred to as one of the key bands in the Bay Area thrash metal movement of the 1980s, and secured opening slots at club venues that decade, including opening for their peers Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Overkill, D.R.I., Mercyful Fate and Possessed. They are also often credited as one of the leaders of the second wave of thrash metal movement from the 1980s, and considered to be one of the "big eight" of the genre (along with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus and Overkill), as well as one of the so-called "Big Six of Bay Area thrash metal" (alongside Exodus, Testament, Lååz Rockit, Forbidden and Vio-lence). Following the underground success of their first two studio albums, The Ultra-Violence (1987) and Frolic Through the Park (1988), Death Angel signed to Geffen Records in 1989, and released their only album for the label, Act III, the following year. While they were touring in support of Act III, then-drummer Andy Galeon was injured in a tour bus accident and needed more than a year to fully recover. This resulted in the band's break up in 1991. However, Death Angel reformed in 2001 (without original rhythm guitarist Gus Pepa) at the Thrash of the Titans benefit concert for Testament singer Chuck Billy. The band has since released six more albums, including Humanicide (2019), to which the title track gave Death Angel their first-ever Grammy Award nomination.

A Room With A View
Death Angel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Listen to the people shuffle around and around
Hear the children laughing
Feel the morning breeze (feel the morning breeze)
Sunlight warms his skin
The autumn air is taken in
A nearby bird sings its song for him
[Chorus:]
A room with a view
You're looking at him
He's looking through you
A room with a view
Who's fooling who?
There's got to be something that he knew
So there he sits, and some may wonder
About the sly grin on his face
Yet little do they know
(They don't have a clue)
The boundaries of his wisdom
In the solitude of his kingdom
[Chorus]
The lyrics to Death Angel's song “A Room With A View” describe a man who is sitting at a window and observing the world outside. He can hear the children playing and the people shuffling around. He feels the morning breeze and the warm sunlight on his skin, while a nearby bird sings a beautiful melody. The man seems to be deep in thought as the autumn air is taken in.
The chorus of the song “A Room With A View” questions the man's intentions and motives. The phrase “a room with a view” is somewhat ironic because it implies that while the man can see what’s going on outside, he's detached and not part of it. The chorus also implies that the man has some hidden knowledge or is hiding something. The line “who’s fooling who?” suggests that there might be more to this man than meets the eye.
The rest of the lyrics questions the man's wisdom and his solitude in his own kingdom. Although the people outside may wonder or speculate about him, they don't have a clue about the boundaries of his wisdom. Overall, the lyrics to Death Angel's “A Room With A View” seem to be about a man who could be perceived as an outsider, deep in thought, and with certain secrets hidden away from the rest of the world.

Guess I was the old guy at the bar, I was 25 and in the pit for everyone of those you mentioned in '90 and never leave Testament out of the discussion they still are one of the preeminent thrash bands ever. Damn I drank a shit load of beer, smoked weed, and lots of acid and I'm still here. Good times had by all.

1990. 15 years old. Not a great life. Asking myself what is the point. Listening to songs like this in a darkened room. Somehow I kept going. Life a lot better after high school. Thanks Death Angel and all the other bands of my youth.
