By her third album in 1990, Anything Is Possible, Gibson’s chart fortunes were diminishing; only the lead single, the album’s title track, made any headway, peaking at #26. It would be her final U.S. top 40 entry. She shed the wholesome teen image for 1993’s Body, Mind, Soul, and later appeared in a Playboy magazine pictorial. Despite her diminished profile, another seven albums followed between 1995 and 2022. In 2006, she reached # 24 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart with "Say Goodbye,” a duet with Jordan Knight. Gibson has also had starring roles on Broadway and touring musicals, including playing Eponine in Les Misérables and Sandy in Grease, as well as television and independent film work.
Out of the blue

Whoa, whoa
Ooh, yeah
Without you, without you
I always thought that everything was fine
Without you
Never knowing you'd be mine
And I just wonder why
All it took was just one smile
Now with you, out of the blue
Love appeared before my eyes with you
Dream come true
I never thought I'd realize what love was
What love was, what love was
I need you, oh, I need you
And every day, I love you more and more
Without you (dreams and tears)
I know what it's all for
Suddenly, I see you there
And everything's okay
Don't know why I feel this way
Now with you, out of the blue
Love appeared before my eyes with you
Dream come true
I never thought I'd realize what love was
What love was, what love was
Here with you
We are together now
Never take my heart away
All the love I found
It's here to stay (out of the blue)
Whoa, whoa, whoa
It's like a dream come true
I never thought I'd fall in love with you
Out of the blue
Love appeared before my eyes with you
Dream come true
I never thought (whoa, whoa, whoa)
Here with you
Out of the, out of the, out of the, out of the clear blue
Oh, it's like a dream come true
I never thought, I never thought
Out of the blue
Before my eyes with you
Dream come true
I never thought I'd fall in love with you
Out of the, out of the, out of the, out of the clear blue
The lyrics of Debbie Gibson’s song “Out of the Blue” describe the sudden realization of falling in love unexpectedly. The singer had always thought that everything was fine without the person they are addressing in the song, never knowing they would be theirs. However, suddenly their world changes, and they wonder why this person only needed one smile to make them fall in love. The chorus repeats the sentiment that love appeared before their eyes out of nowhere, and the singer never thought she’d have the ability to realize what love was, yet now they are in love.
The second verse goes on to reveal the yearning of the singer for this person they have fallen for, expressing their increasing love for the person every day. They know that without this person, everything they were working towards, including their dreams and tears, has been for naught. The last few stanzas of the song, including the repetition of the chorus, emphasize how much the singer has come to love this person, stating that it’s like a dream come true. Even though they thought they would never fall in love, their love did appear, out of the clear blue.

I'm 55 years old now, but I always felt that's just a number. My physical self may change but my heart will always be young, as young as when I'm in 80's and living the dream. Wish I could go back and forget this present time full of chaos, violence and war.

What do you admire most about Debbie
@jeffjohnson5544
She was fortunate to have sane parents who weren't trying to live off of the money she made and to have seemingly ethical managers. She never had the fame that Britney Spears had but Debbie Gibson was/is a 1000 times better singer and her songs were actually HITS. She was wholesome and wasn't a bad influence on my generation like Britney is. Debbie is now a stable adult who never self-destructed.
